Pd150 hybrid vs standard pd130 with remap

Featured Replies

Right well my turbo has officially died I've been debating the last few days on whether or not I should buy a new car I've decided that were going to keep the Fabia and replace the turbo, turbo technics do the gt1749vc pd150 hybrid cheaper than the pd130 hybrid go figure lol, but my motor is mapped what will the difference be in terms of performance will I see bigger increase in bhp with the pd150 hybrid bare in mind everything else is standard on my car or will it have to be mapped again also what do people think of the extra power is it worth the extra

Thanks

I did this recently! I do have a FMIC and decat though but you could get the cat cut out of the standard exhaust.

I'm still running the standard clutch so slightly detuned.

The difference between a hybrid pd150 and a mapped pd130 is night and day. Pulls harder and much longer. Sounds unreal and did I mention it just keeps pulling?

Alex can also give his opinion as he recently done the same too but he's still running a standard SMIC like you.

You wouldn't regret it!

I've just spoken to turbo technics and apparently they don't do hybrid for the Fabia vrs asz hmmm.... Sounds a bit odd to me to be honest what turbo do people use when they go hybrid then?

Also what car is the pd150 turbo off that people use?

PD150 turbo is from a golf/leon/a3/toledo/bora PD150 engine cars. Also can use a PD160 engine Ibiza turbo. TT do make a hybrid 150, pretty sure thats who unit 18 use for their turbos.

Yeah that's what I thought the guy at tt said they don't fit lol

They do

Just clock it 180 degree's

Possible the egr wont connect onto the manifold but just get an egr delete and job done

Doesnt surprise me.

IN MY EXPERIENCE DO NOT USE TURBO TECHNICS.

It makes me laugh that they say they do one for the ASZ when they in fact built one for my Ibiza which died after 700 miles (YES 700 MILES) when it was sent back they REFUSED to do it under warrenty when questioned they blamed "hard intercooler pipes" as the reason for the failed turbo. They wouldnt honour warrenty because I didnt have the standard intercooler pipes on the car!!! It was sourced via a 3rd party company who actually paid for them to fix the problem and send the unit back up. They did and the 2nd unit DIDNT EVEN WORK EVER. Wouldnt spin freely at all, the company opened up the housing a little and then it would move. It looked like they had taken a dremel to the inside housing?!?! My only theory is they bench tested it without the housing on, put on the housing then sent it up.

Guess what... SENT IT BACK AND THEY DIDNT COVER IT AGAIN! Blamed the fact the housing had been CLOCKED as the reason it wouldnt move freely!

Massive rant about my experience of a shocking company. This has left my track car turbo-less for the past year as I just got fed up.

CR Turbo's and Turbo Dynamics seem good however, go with any of those two!

As Dan said, mine's got a PD150 hybrid but also de-tuned as still running standard clutch and SMIC. Will get it sorted early next year hopefully! Definitely a difference over a standard turbo and stage 1 remap - pulls much more to the red line and doesn't drop off as early as the PD130 turbo. Can't comment on the noise difference, as I had a de-cat fitted at the same time...
