02 Fabia - No Ignition lights or Engine Turnover

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have just bought a Fabia Estate 1.4ltr 16v elegance. Its got 77,000 miles on the clock and has been great since i bought it last week.

Today my wife drove it about 6 miles up the road to drop our daughter off at her grandparents and when she went back to the car the car opened on the central locking fine but when she went to start it there where no ignition lights or any engine turnover at all.

Has any one experienced and similar issues with there Fabia or has any suggestion to the cause of the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Check that the battery terminals are not loose.

If you have a multimeter, check the battery voltage.

Thanks Wino, will give it go and see if that solves the issue.

Bad battery connections/ as said ,battery volts, bad earth connections( body /chassis ends). If no voltmeter, are headlamps ok ,then check brightness with starter operated. If voltmeter and battery OK, then look for bad connection somewhere. ( starter operated, it draws big current. Ohm Law say voltage drop = bad connection x big current = no volts to starter). That's putting the theory as simple as i can .  One way of finding a bad connection without voltmeter and knowing how to use it is to look for starting hotspots. When there's a bad connection  heat is generated on that point.
