route options

Featured Replies

Please can someone explain to me what the three route options on the built in sat nav are?  I can't see much difference on the maps..  I've looked at the manuals and can't work it out from them.

thanks.

Fastest, Shortest and either/or economy or traffic flow.

I guess it will depend on the settings you have on your system, if it's the same as a traditional PND such as a Garmin or TomTom, then you can specify avoidance of motorways, tolls etc.

If the system considers all 3 options are for the same route available, then the 3 coloured route lines will be superimposed onto each other so no real difference will be indicated. The (slightly) different coloured route markings on the map equate to the "option" marks alongside each possible choice open for you to select.

I must say though, the system is not very clear, often difficult to fathom out and takes some time to set a route - being restricted to the 3 options doesn't always get you the route you want either !

Despite all that, I used it this past weekend in areas unknown to me & found it accurate with clear instructions to guide me all the way home !

Hmm - thanks for the replies - but what do the "option" marks mean?  I can see that they are green, amber and red, so I'm assuming it thinks they are good, middling and bad, but I don't understand why..  The symbols on them mean absolutely nothing to me (I'm afraid I'm a complete dunce with these systems - the symbols never mean anything, and I definitely do not find them intuitive!).

I find it re-routes quite well when it's trying to send me in ridiculous directions, but it would be good to understand what it is trying to do.

please ignore me - I've found a link to the correct users manual in the manuals thread, and they are explained in there :)
