Peeling Paint

Featured Replies

I have noticed that the paint on the inside of the front spoiler at the bottom,  is just peeling off. It is wafer thin to start with and obviously just a single coat. Has anybody else had this problem with a Blackline. I would imagine all the front section will have to come off to correct this ?

do you mean when you look through the plastic grill in the centre of the bumper. So you are looking at the inside that leads to the bottom of the radiators. If so my 08 pre fl has flaked paint in there.

LIift bonnet look straight down at bottom below radiator its the inside of the front spoiler.

I have paint peeling on the outside of the front bumper. Some is coming away in the recess where the number plate goes and some is coming away on the underside of the bumper, where the horizontal part meets the small vertical piece at its back edge. Car is 2010 vRS.

Sarge.

Paint peeling on a 2010 plate? Something's surely not right there? Any comeback on the dealer/suk?

I had my front bumper done under warranty for peeling paint as have plenty of others. Remember it's only a 3year warranty for paint defects.

That is were mine has peeled too. have saw it on many octys.

Great - another thing to watch out for on mine.

paint peeling off my spoiler now aswell, having small pockets bubble right across the entire surface, pretty shoddy from skoda if this is happening across a wide scale.

Haven't actually pursued it as it's not major and hasn't got any worse. When I previously mentioned it to the dealer they did see they would sort it for me. However was a bit reluctant as I figured having it fixed could result in new problems elsewhere, including the silver likely not matching the rest of the car.

Sarge.

Fair enough. I wouldn't take it to be honest but each to own. I did once have a shoddy paint job on my last car that just didn't match at all but that was a cheap run about so not as bothered.

Am i right in thinking that the paint on the outside of the front bumper is multilayered and laquered and on the inside a single unlaquered coat, which would explain the peeling. If this is correct re painting the inside should be easy. I did say should be. I think i will get a good bodyshop to look at it first so im prepared for the BS from the dealer.PS the paint was peeling from new i noticed it straight away but did not think it would get worse, it has.

Mine has got this too. It's not peeling but a palm sized area has bubbled up.

When it's wet the bubble inflates, when it's dry it falls back but you can see the area outline. Just a matter of time before it bursts.

Not that bothered but if it spreads to the front face abviously a bigger issue.

Off to dealers today to have it assessed / pics taken for a warranty claim.

I also have a sliver of bubbling and lost top coat at the corner of the number plate recess. 2010.
