This isn't a partuclarly amazing deal. You can get better % discounts on first owner factory orders from other brokers or negotiating around dealers yourself.

Agree Nick -  but how many unregistered pre FL L&K's are there now left?

I'm quite tempted by this as I would really like to get a new Yeti before the winter, but how can I check these guys are for real? I've called them and they have a suitable car and would require a deposit, so full payment would only be made on collection of the vehicle, but I've never heard of them and a quick google didn't turn up any results. I reckon I might have to wait for a facelift model through a dealer, though that wait is likely to drive me crazy - especially if it gets put back.

It's all very confusing, never bought a new car before. Maybe I'll just go and buy some old banger instead.

This may help put your mind at rest a bit - from the company's website.

You are right though to be cautious. Normally with a broker, they direct you to a main dealer (a Skoda one in this instance), and all the paperwork/payments etc are done direct with the dealer, the broker then gets a commission from the dealer. How much deposit do they require and is it direct to them or dealer?

Thanks for your reply.

They want £500, which is pretty standard as I understand it. I think it's direct to them as they seem to be expecting deliveries of Yetis in the next couple of months, though who knows whether that's direct or via dealers. As the advert was on ebay and they only have 2 recommendations, and I can't find anyone recommending/discussing them on the internet I think it may be better to be cautious and look elsewhere.

Ok accept it could be questionable, but if you pay your deposit by Paypal from a credit card source, you have 2 protections, primarily withPP but that lasts only 45(?) days, then by your credit card co..

Recently fallen foul of a b'astard on ebay who kept messing me about, the 45 day rule came into play but my cc co stumped up my dosh!

Happy decision making, and good luck!!

Agree - pay deposit with credit card as you have their protection if anything goes wrong.

Still, I think you are right to be cautious!

Thanks for all your replies, I'm thinking we might hold out for the FL version in the new year. If we do proceed with buying from these guys I'll follow your advice and use a credit card.

Cheers

John

I'm not writing for or against this company, just commenting that when selling using ebay classified ads as this trader is doing, the buyer does not get asked to leave feedback.

I didn't know that, but then again there is a lot I don't know and even more that I've forgotten. :-o
