Front Armrest

Featured Replies

Anyone know what's involved in retro-fitting a front armrest in a Monte Carlo Tech?

If it was me doing it first on the list would be a lot of swearing :giggle:

That's why I asked, I could cope with the one on my previous car (MINI) as it slipped under the driver and front passenger seat rails, what I've read from the dealers on-line it needs a technician to fit. I've been quoted £118.00 + Vat to fit which makes it an expensive option IMHO!

£118+vat are they taken the p*ss or what .....its really quite simple if the arm rest comes with the bolts if i remember there is 4 of them. first move the two front seats fully forward ,there is a cup holder at the end of the hand brake that rear passengers can use, pries that out and under that is were the hand brake adjustment is, the square hole that you are now looking at on the console  is were the arm rest fits into ...now it gets a bit fiddly loosen of the middle console retaining screws and lift the console up as mush as possible pass the bottom of the arm rest into the square hole and locate the fixing holes to secure the a/r, to see the fixing points for the a/r you will need a friend to pull up the console at the square hole end i was by myself when i done it and i used small blocks of wood to keep the console up enough to secure the a/r ...i would first check and make sure there is 4 holes under the rear cup holder as fixing points for the a/r ...hope this helps a bit or a starting point anyway

I payed £70 from eBay....genuine part. It took 10 mins to fit, no swearing involved. No prising bits off either. Just 4 screws to turn, self tappers into the base of the pocket in front of the rear cup holder. The rest sits in the cup holder and square pocket. I'll see if I have the link

Thank you O.C.D and jonro2009 that doesn't sound that technical at all.

Thank you for the link jonro2009, is the armrest covering fabric or vinyl?

It's covered in black fabric.

That would fit in with the interior I guess as I have the Onyx Black interior.

Same here, it's fits in just fine, I will try and get a photo up tonight.

Never seen that square armrest before - I doubt it is a Skoda one. It is probably from another model of the VW Group.

Anyways the original one looks like the one below which I had leather stitched a long time ago.

I bought it for something close to 100pounds from CZ through a friend who was there on vacation.

Don't spend more than that if possible - the quality is not THAT great and with time they start to squeak at the base because of their plastic covers.
