XMBC on android media player

Featured Replies

Anybody tinkering with this setup ???

I'm running it on a Sumvision nano.

Locking for something interesting to do with it really lol

I have read that you can create a XMBC streamer using a Rasberry Pi.

The pi ones are a little bit limited, same as some of the android ones.

Mainly around some of the skins being too much for the system to cope with then streaming video too.

I've seen it running well on an Atom based board, streaming music from a remote NAS.

I have been using an original 128MB RAM Pi to stream my media to since they came out.

Runs flawless for me.  Not one issue. Currently running XBIAN , but also tried RASPBMC, nothing between them.

My collection is all 720p MKV's.

What flavour of Android do these sumvision boxes come with?

I wish I could speak Geek...

Id know what your on about then :(

Wasnt the original pi 256mb? Do you mean you had a beta which only allowed 128mb allocated?

The problem with the PI is that the heavier skins cause problems as they don't work smoothly.

With a light skin they're just fine (and cheap as chips too).

A friend has an android 4.2 made in china cheapy box. That was working ok with lighter skins until some update added a load of junk to the system. They ate up all the resource and that was that.

I'm considering a low power intel device and a TV tuner in there to do XBMC/Myth and replace a hard disk recorder at the same time.
