rising tickover

Featured Replies

Hi all,

the tickover on my 1.9 tdi has risen to 1000 rpm from 800 rpm over the last few days..

have looked at the fault codes with vcds and can only find a couple of dodgy glow plugs and oil temp/level sensor fault

00562 - Sensor for Oil Level/Temperature (G266)

anyone come across this before?

cheers

just thought Id update this topic in case someone does a search for similar in future..

the oil sensor had been left disconnected after a recent clutch change and was not the problem..

A day after posting the above topic the starter motor started misbehaving and after removing and testing (perfect) the problem was traced to a bad earth connection from the starter to the chassis. This is the main earth point for the engine and as such led to some sensor not working properly and the outcome of that was the racing tickover.

anyway all sorted now...hope this is of some use to someone in the future
