Vrs feels like a boat

Featured Replies

With the on going issue on the heavy stearing which is getting worse even feels like the car is fighting me going round a bend.mow the car sways from side to side on a straight road feels like its gonna take off.its got on the point that I'm not driving it and using my dad monte

Have you taken it to be looked at anywhere? ie Skoda or a local VAG specialist.

What have you had checked since the last post on the problem?

It is a mechanical or electrical problem and a qualified motor mechanic should find the problem, even if either of the several Skoda Workshops near you can not.

Conact Skoda UK or Skoda Assist and have them arrange the uplift of the car to be taken to a proper repair workshop.

It's booked into Thomson and potter for the earliest day the have which is the 13th

You could call Skoda Assist get the car removed to a Dealers for repairs, and get a Courtesy Car till the repairs are done properly

if you wanted.

Or call Skoda UK and get the car taken to competent Vehicle Mechanical Engineers for a complete check on safety matters and the standard of work already done by T&P.

Mon 4th Nov tomorrow, booked in Wed 13th.

Fault at least from the 20th October, & car undrivable because unsafe.

Fault first with the Steering and failure because of their workshops bad workmanship back in April..

They offer some standard of Customer Service do they not!

Good luck getting things sorted.

Vrs feels like a boat

or a sinking ship

You need to ask yourself if you feel the car is actually safe to drive as it sounds like it may not be. Possibly need to get it checked out as a priority as a safety issue.

What have you done to it?  Have you hit anything hard or curbed it? Has it got a flat tyre? Have you had a look at the shockers and or springs? Is there any play in the steering if you pull the wheels left and right whilst somebody holds the steering wheel?

Seems odd to me that a car can just start feeling like a boat?

Hope you get it sorted soon.

It didnt just started feeling like a boat.

It got a new engine and the garage made a mess of doing that and the steering failed in April.

Then the steering went heavy in October.

Then it feels like a boat.

Maybe some connection there, seemingly Tyres which i believe were change last winter & are OK , Bridgestone Potenza',

and so is the suspension,

from earlier posts.

Needs a four wheel alignment first then as the subframe may have been off, I hope they used new bolts to re attach it...

It needs to go no where near the Skoda Dealership about 15 miles from where he lives.

You definitely have an issue there. My complaint is that the steering is light and to a point, vague. The best feedback I've had was when I threw a wheel balancing weight after my last tyre fitment and got steering vibration !

If you have very light steering, over and above what you might expect from the car type, tyre type and tyre pressures,

maybe have it checked on VAGCOM to see that the steering does not have a setting like 'Disability Assist' for a disabled driver,

to give them more steering assistance.

This choice can have be selected  and then not set back to Factory Setting.
