Try the Fabia 1 alloys archive for pics.

They will physically fit if you go down do a 35 profile tyre. It has been done before - I'm not aware of anyone keeping 18's on a Fabia for any length of time though!

The ride is going to be terrible!

So you want the car to look weird and not go round corners then. With the rubber band tyres you'll require, the handling is terrible, it will bounce along everywhere and you'll soon grow very tired of it. Members here have tried in the past, then removed and sold the wheels after nearly killing themselves. Recommended maximum size on a Fabia is 17", gives the best compromise.

I dissagree in part. I always thought this Fabia looked awesome.

If you get decent tyres and the 18's in question aren't very heavy it could work fine. My comment was more about the couldn't care less attitude about how it handles which these days seems to be the case.

My Ibiza (similar chassis) ran 18's with 215/35 18 tyres and was just fine. although I had decent suspension on it and it was set up properly.

My vrs had coilovers and low profile tyres, ride wasn't to bad...

Until I drove my fabia elegance with whopping 14" alloys! 185/60 R14 tyres - I now know what it must feel like to drive a Bentley, it glides over everything! 30mph speed bumps no problemo

As before the handling doesn't matter if there only on for shows I'll only be driving down a motorway so shud be fine ...

I love that one on r32 wheels!

Too big!

Looks and handles like a roller skate

Run some JOM coil overs too, don't forget the Nangkang tyres or maybe splash out on some Woosungs, really ruin it.

Ive used tyres worse than nankangs that were more expensive lol

Pirelli p zero for one were truely awful on my fabia

i run p zero neros on mine and they are absolutely spot on .... very rarely get understeer unless being completely stupid and they grip well in all conditions

bear in mind though on 18's with rubber bands if you hit a pot hole its likley that you will bend a wheel

Lcr's look good,

More a case of working within the limitations of the chassis. Huge, heavy diesel engine and limited suspension travel when lowered. Not the best recipe for fitting wider and lower profile tyres to bigger and heavier alloys. Even if the alloys don't buckle and the tyres don't blister, it'll develop into a torque/trough steering monstrosity likely to double the size of your forearms in a week as you try to hold on to it.

Find the right 17s. Even then, fit 205/45s rather than 40s.

J.

205/45/17 is far TOO big for a fabia

205/40/17 or 215/40/17 will be spot on for Fabia's - the MK2 vRS come with 205/40/17 and is basically the same chassis.

18's done right with right size tyres and suspension will be fine.

205/40/17 to 205/35/18 is only 5mm bigger diameter so you will notice any difference on steering. Only difference you will notice is the harshness over bumps etc. Only difference in steering will come from the width not diameter and then you will not get wide enough wheels on the front of a fabia to make a difference.

There is only 10mm difference from 205/45/16s aswell.

bear in mind though on 18's with rubber bands if you hit a pot hole its likley that you will bend a wheel

This ^^ although mine was partly due to the cheap **** bbs reps aswell as the 215/35 18 tyres :D

And that was from driving in a 50mph section of the M62 motorway where there was an unavoidable pothole :(. I couldnt move lanes as i was in the slow lane + there was a car directly to my right (doing 55mph like me)..

205/40x17 equates to 205/45x16 (more or less). Little bro run 205/45x17 on his FR. Only one size up and within 2-3% of the original. Shouldn't be an issue IMO.
