Air Flow

I have a K&N Cone filter fitted which I am happy with as the engine now revs freely and trottle response is greatly improved.

When the engine is hot I know I know ther is not enough cold air getting to the filter as it is at the back of the engine bay. I had a pipe coming from under the car to directly on to the filter but it seems inefective.

Has anyone fitted a bonnet scoop or air vent directly above the cone filter as This would provide great no restriction airflow onto the filter.

Do you have access to VAG-COM, Id be interested to see what your inlet temps are with the K&N for comparison to the stock airbox and a CAI.

No Ninj but perhaps one of the other members could shed some light on that.

Such an arrangement will only give a benefit when the car is moving.

An exposed filter will just get heat soak from engine.....in which case the standard airbox with a replacement cotton gause filter will probably be better.

CAI will probably be better still but ulitmately to reduce the inlet temp you either need a FMIC or a water/NOS spray.

A bonnet vent would help but more to let heat out rather than cool air in...and then you have you have to consider what would happen if you got a lot of water on the very hot turbo.
