Superskoda rear trunk spoiler for hatchbacks

Featured Replies

I am wondering if this part can be fitted onto a VRS hatch?

Is anybody thinking about to order this one?

I think it definately looks better than the stock VRS spoiler.

How can the original spoiler be removed?

This one can fit into the place of the old one?

How can the new one be fixed?

I am curious about your opinions.

Anyone on this?

Nobody is thinking on to replace rear trunk spoiler on his vRS hatch with this one?

FGD I have just ordered that spoiler for my Octavia I think it looks great more like the old VRS one and much cheaper than Skoda parts.

What's your car? Mk2 or Mk3? vRS or non-vRS model?

How are you going to fit and paint the part?

This just arrived this morning. Now to get the old one off. Anyone any ideas?

I see the 4 screws at the sides, which I haven't touched yet, but the new spoiler has holes a lot further in, implying there are bolts to be accessed from within the back boot panel?

Will keep you updated.

Version 2 Spoiler from Superskoda will not fit directly onto vRS using OEM holes in boot lid. Original spoiler is held on by 4 screws and bonded to boot lid. Superskoda spoiler will require holes to be drilled in correct place and then some suitable fasteners inserted into the spoiler to allow the OEM screws to fasten spoiler to boot lid. Just sourcing some fasteners that will insert in GRP. Will then screw and bond. Just waiting for new spoiler to be painted, will post pictures when done.

Fitted! The OEM spoiler is fixed on with 4 screws and bonding. A bit of heat and wallpaper scraper wrapped in a cloth with some persuasion and patience and it comes off OK. The new one has been fixed on with double sided number plate tape and 4 self tapping screws.

What happens to the original holes?

Much nicer than the OEM one. I've always thought that the OEM one was so disappointing.

That looks good :) I think the MKII spoiler is much nicer than the one on the MKIII, the Super Škoda spoiler gets a lot closer to the version fitted to the MKII.

What happens to the original holes?

The self tapping screws went through them and into the spoiler. The Superskoda spoiler is not as well made as the OEM one but does have sufficient material at the edge of it to get the self tappers in.

The new spoiler has pre-drilled and tapped holes but they don't line up with the holes on the boot lid. So, although it says on the Superskoda website that it is OEM, when I contacted them, having got the spoiler, they said it wasn't OEM for the vRS! If you haven't got a vRS you will either have to drill your boot or just bond it to the boot lid. Oh, and it doesn't come with a template or any instructions if you were going to drill the boot lid!

Hi Banksie, Do you have any photos of this V2 hatch spoiler fitted as I can't see any in the thread posts?

It certainly looks much better than the standard vRS version which is disappointing to say the least, however I was hoping it would be a straight swap into the original bolt positions. The Mk II spoiler was much better and it's one of the downsides of the new model which detracts from the attraction of the vRS model.

Is the V2 spoiler made from simple GRP and not polycarbonate? Is the quality and fit good baring in mind it needs painted?

Happy New Year.

It's GRP. It's fairly similar in shape to the Mk2. It was difficult to paint as the GRP was quite "porous" according to the painter. Once fitted,as described above, you can't tell it's not OEM.
