1.6 tdi cr, idling issue

Featured Replies

Hi

Octavia 1.6 tdi cr se. 105 hp. 59 reg

engine will sometimes idle at 1000rpm then drop to a steady 750 rpm, it seems to be related to the operation of the heater fan control. Also it doesn't sound a smooth as when it idles at 750, is this normal?  this is my first Skoda ive owned. looked on the net and people seem to mention DPF problems but the car does at least 120 miles a week on the motorway, surely this would keep it clean. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thats it doing a regen of the dpf. Nothing to worry about

As above, glad you hardly notice this

Just drive normal and push one or other gear once in a while

Have started to notice the same thing on mine, also a 1.6 tdi. Have you noticed when this happens that if you get to a traffic light and go into neutral it goes right back down to 750rpm?

yeh, mine does this, it drops to 750 rpm when car comes to a complete stop.

The rpm can be changed, have mine on 850rpm. Max is 880rpm. You will notice a big difference especially when you drive off

Hi

How do you change the tickover rpm ?

As mine idles in winter at 1,000 most of the time

Thanks

I will have to look into that, as long as it doesn't cause any long term problems.

I have mine for ages

01-Engine

10-adaptation

choose IDEL RPM CORRECTION

value = nothing

new value = 70  (780+70=850) or new value = 20 (780+20= 800)

to reset back to 780rpm just place 0(zero) on the new value

Start the car and leave idling before change so you can hear the change

I will garantee that you won´t go back to 780rpm.
