Columbus Bluetooth Bong - How do I stop / reduce it?

Featured Replies

When a bluetoooth phone connects to a Columbus head unit an audible bong is emitted followed by 10 seconds of bloody silence as the speakers are muted just in case you didn't hear the bong or notice the screen announcement.

Anyone know if there is a way of getting rid of the bong altogether or reducing the pause after the bong as it is ****ing me off big time.

VCDS allows you to switch it off.

Wys?ano z Nokii 3310 za pomoc? Klawiatury :-)

I'm not sure that I understand this post, my car doesn't do this and I drive the same car albeit a 140. I don't get any bong or on screen message other then the one in the dot matrix screen that tells me that the paired phone is being connected.

Sounds to me as if your head may be faulty?

The bong is irritating and can be switched off with VCDS (it's a setting of the carkit (#77) not of the HU, by the way). Skoda also noticed this, and turned it off by default in MY2012 (or was it MY2011). So Graham Butcher, your car is probably from MY2012 or later.

Hmmm my Superb is only a month old so i wonder do they have the bong for different markets or different car kits.

Will annoy my friendly Skoda Dealer

dad's March 2013 yeti does this too - my 2010 Superb didn't.

Al.

I don't get a bong when my (61 plate) Columbus pairs with my Samsung Galaxy phone, the phone does "ring a bell" though to let know it has paired.
