Have you changed to fixed services?

No need for long life oil on fixed services. Although some people still stick with it.

No I didn't ask for it too be changed? Could it be that I'm not doing massive mileage ?, I didn't realise it had been changed until I got home , or I might have asked the DEALER :)

Check the price they charged you for your Non Longlife Oil.

Many Skoda Dealership Workshops show on the Invoice Quantum Longlife 3 on services of Skodas with a 9400 mile/1 year service, when not on Flexible/Variable Servicing,

and the price is just the same as the non Long Life.

Really the Service Desk or the Technician should have asked you.

but,

If you are servicing Annually/10,000 miles, makes no difference really as long as the correct spec of oil.

??So what have they printed on the Invoice, Brand, Grade, Quantity & Price, ?

Hi George ( not a random George ) wasn't told nowt at the desk but all I can find is that it may be the low mileage and they changed it ? Is the oil still fully synthetic ?

No idea until you look at the printed Invoice and see what they say the put in and charged you for.

Unit Price, Quantity, Quality/Grade, VAT etc.

If you engine needs Full Synthetic then it should be what is used.

What Engine do you have?

Is it one that matches any on the Skoda Engine Oil Chart?

EDIT,

Sorry, i could not see the Grey Writing.

So a 1.6TDI 105 ps - 77kW

So, requires 'VW 507 00' on fixed Servicing,

The same as on Fixed Servicing or Flexible Servicing according to the Skoda Oil Chart.

It was just put in the service book , didn't pay it was service plan when I purchased it , I will phone them Friday

If you're on the service plan, then you're on fixed intervals.

So this is non longlife oil? As I can't understand why I had it last year and not this time ?

I assume that your car has a Diesel Particulate Filter, if that's the case then they must use a low ash oil.  The only low ash VW oil that I know of is the oil that conforms to VW 507 and I've only seen VW 507 oil in long life form.

This would fit with Georges post above.

To be honest at the prices that they buy in 200 litre drums of the stuff at, whether they book it out as long life or invoice it at a lower cost when using it on service plans, it not worth the extra bother of stocking different types of oil.

I'm not random,.........am I?

Thanks fordy and all , they ticked the "NO" box in the service book , I phoned them up and they said" yes sir :) we did change the oil and filters and when your passing we will amend the service book " hopefully they are telling the truth ! I trust no one !

When the dealer carried out my 3rd year service they managed to write the wrong mileage in the service book!!  :wall:

I will be doing the next service myself ! How hard can it be ? :o

In my experience a lot of disasters are preceded with phrases like 'How hard can it be?' or 'now, watch this'.
