I changed my 'S' grille, the plain black one, for one with the chrome surround yesterday.

 

The plain black is a single piece affair, there are no slots for the chrome surround tabs to go in, so it is not possible to buy the chrome surround and fit it to the 'S' grille.

At one stage I was going to buy the black surround to de-chrome my Sport

 

Glad I didn't, as not only doesn't it look as good, it wouldn't have fitted then

I wouldn't advise anyone to remove the chrome trim from the grille as it's very brittle and putting back in is a nightmare.

Damon, I'm sure it would fit as the outline would be the same. The chrome strip fits on the face of the grille.
