Clutch randomly engages in first gear (creeps forward)

Featured Replies

Any ideas? when in traffic, clutch pedal is all the way down, I press the brake pedal and for some reason the car feels as if the clutch is engaged and tries to creep forward.

FYI:

New helix clutch and SMF

New release bearing

New clutch master cylinder

Clutch fluid bled multiple times

Any help would be much appreciated

Other occasions, I'm accelerating from stationary on first gear, drop the clutch, and the gear stays engaged? So I struggle to wack it out of first into second gear : (

Thanks

That's all the symptoms of the slave cylinder failing. How long ago was it changed?

Done with the clutch buddy, April 2013

Hmmmm

Are you pleased with the Helix? Off topic sorry!

Mine does this since i fitted a single mass + techniclutch. Worse in reverse. Its got to be a clutch issue. I rang them + they said bleed it up. Iv bled it and its the same (never had to bleed up a clutch with an external slave before either!) Iv taken it out + the release bearing has been touching the pressure plate on the edges of the bearing not the centre of the pressure plate teeth (will attach a pic because that wasnt a clear desription lol). Anyway i put the clutch back in + "bedded it in" (burned abit) so the clutch friction plate is abit thinner which will cause the teeth to raise up in the middle + the release bearing to connect with the centre of the pressure plate. Its better now but judders + still creeps abit in reverse. I will be kicking off with them monday + trying to get my money back but CBA taking the clutch back out (again lol :D)

Iv kept my old clutch + im 99% sure if i put it back in there will be no issues + it will br back to normal.

Friction plate ^^ only making contact on the dark spots (pic was taken when i took it out after i had fit it + it wouldnt get in gear) iv since put it back in and given it a hardcore road test + it gets in gear now but judders + creeps in 1st + reverse :(

Pressure plate ^^ arrow pointing to the only part of the teeth where the release bearing is touching :(.. release bearing is a standard item that came new with the kit + is used for most cars in the VW range so i cant see that being the issue..

Yep mines terrible in reverse also! Sometimes I have to turn the car off to get the car out of reverse as it's mega stiff : (

Dan the helix clutch pretty awesome! Although been having problems since April : (

Thanks for the help guys - much appreciated

Mine was doing this last night it's weird!

Sounds like some dimensions are not to OEM specs. Clearances on modern cars are minimal to avoid a viscous clutch.
