camber adjustment?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Fitting prosport coilovers on my 2003 octavia will I require camber adjustment for it to avoid eating through the tyres?

If so how is the camber adjusted is it just a case of buyin adjustable drop links?

I have 18inch bbs ch alloy wheels looking to drop the car quite low.

Thanks in advance!

No camber adjustment on standard set up i believe but you can change hub/bottom arm assembly for r32 golf etc and get some adjustment.

but if you don't want to go that route then you can buy camber adjustable top mounts which will help, generally when you lower the car you start to get positive camber which doesn't really cause excessive wear on tires but will put geometry out.

I have rear camber shims of -1.0

what do them shims do?

So I should be okay without camber adjustment? Don't want to eat through the brand new continental tyres I have just fitted.

I would get it all checked by a wheel alignment specialists when done and go from there.

Camber kicks the top of the back wheel in

Wheel goes in

Car comes down hehe

I've got kw coilovers on my car with the back adjuster removed and the fronts wound right down, the backs wear very even and the fronts aren't bad either(still get over 12k out of the fronts),mined that's with 205\50 tyres fitting wider tyres my wear faster

What wheels is the mr G matey

Oops just seen the op has 18s I've only go ickle 17 spiders :)

You don't need to adjust the camber when fitting coil overs if you don't want to. Certainly if you are not lowering car too much. There is slight adjustment of camber at the wishbone / ball joint on these cars to go negative or positive.

A lot of folks that lower car actually like the camber as it makes car handle better and no real extreme tyre wear.

Either way get car laser tracked after fitting suspension.
