More Toys in Future - or Fewer?

Featured Replies

The comments on here regarding the availablity, non-availability or just delays incurred by ordering many of the new toys supposedly available for the MkIII Ocatavia are really interesting and informative.  Thank you!

I like most of what I hear about the MkIII but I have no need to dash out and buy one immedately (my present cars do pretty much what I need at present) so I am more than happy to wait a while, especially if that will give Skoda a bit of time to iron out any bugs in the design and production of this new model, and time for their suppliers to do likewise and to crank up their production rate.

However - and this is where I would appreciate the experience of members who have bought one - or better still, several - new Skodas in the past.

In your experience, does the initial short supply of some components get better after a while?  Or do Skoda sometimes withdraw a feature altogether after it has initially been announced as being available on a new model?  What happened after the MkII and the MkII 'facelift' models were first launched?

I would be happy to wait until some of the new gizmos became more readily available or were made to work properly, but it would be frustrating if I missed a chance to ever have them at all because Skoda (or their suppliers) just gave up and withdrew certain options.

In your experience, which is more likely to happen as production continues?  Greater availability of options, or reduced availability?

Supply will improve and more toys will be added as the Octavia III ages. Each successive model year will include new standard kit, meaning more optional extras will be made available too eek out buyers money. I personally would like to see electric seats with memory function on the VRS. My wife is 5ft3 and I am 6ft5 meaning everything has to be changed when we swap drivers. This was the one mssing option that nearly turned me away from the Octy.

If you do decide on a Skoda and want to add options, its the same as other makers some options are not available on all specs.

For example the electric seat is not available on the VRS but is on the Elegance.

I have lead to believe told the Octavia III is the first car Skoda have designed from the bottom up without using VW cast of tech and has been much more popular than expected - it is also causing problems for Passat sales.

Once demand drops all options will be back and cars will be supplied in the 12 week window.
