Headlamp bulbs and warranty

Featured Replies

Talking to my local dealer yesterday about changing the headlamp bulbs in the Monte for something brighter.

It would appear dealers wont do this as it invalidates the warranty because they would not be an approved item.

Food for thought.

hi,

i am having a 1st service on my vrs next week and i asked the dealer if he would change the headlamp bulbs(i have bought osram night breaker limited editionplus)and he said he will(no charge hopefully as local dealer very good) :sun:

It would appear that that particular dealer would not change your bulbs,

so that is their loss if you intended paying them to do it.

Bulbs are not covered by Warranty, so they must mean that Bulbs could damage the Electrical system, but

if you are just buying bulbs suitable for the vehicle, these should be 'approved parts' some Dealers Parts Desks might have the bulbs you actually want fitted, strange they could stock them, but they would not be Approved replacements.

Halfords will put your bulbs in for a charge if you can not do it yourself.

Personally i would give that a swerve and pay an Independent to do them.

Load of nonsense! Bulbs are consumables so do not effect warranty issues.

As above.

As long as they are the same wattage your warrenty will not be affected.

Sounds like a bit of dealer misinformation to me; I'm pretty sure your warranty will not cover bulbs anyway so as long as they are the same wattage there should be no issues!
