Symptoms of worn dogbone bushes?

Featured Replies

Hello chaps,

I'm just going through sorting a couple of niggling little issues with the car at the moment (seem to have fixed a long running issued with excessive condensation/misting on front/rear windscreens yesterday - Victory!), which otherwise is still spot on.

One thing that has been bugging me for a whilst is that the vast majority of the time when changing gear the car will buck ever so slightly upon engaging the new gear, rather than shifting smoothly. The gear selection itself is still fine and I haven't had any issues with clutch slip so I don't think there is anything up with the clutch/gearbox. The car will also vibrate quite often when moving off in first gear, and when giving it the berries in low gears has always given a bit of a fight (although I always assumed this was due to FWD).

I haven't had chance to check the condition of the bushings under the car recently, but was wondering if this sounded like a possibly worn dogbone? AFAIK its still on the original OEM which will have done 66k miles by now.

Cheers guys
