New Driver Side Window

Featured Replies

i took my octy to the dealer today to replace a broken right hand side window. he replaced the glass, the riser and 2.5 hours of work. total cost was around 200 euros. how would this compare in your country ? i think its pretty expensive...

damn thief...

200 Euros = about

Probably would claim a window on insurance...not sure whether the excess would be the same as windscreen or same as accident though.

since i am still under 25, the reduction in no claims bonus, would mean i have to pay an extra 325 sterling next year. more over the cost to replace the window came in less than the excess.

200 euro is around 130 sterling yes.. fortunately they did not take anything from inside the car. that would have increased the cost alot.

Yeah, know what you mean - however, windscreens can be replaced twice a year without affecting no claims bonus, so if you could claim it as that it wouldn't make a difference. If it wasn't claimable as a windscreen, I'd probably be paying it out of my own pocket too!

I'm getting a new windscreen tomorrow, you're correct Rob,

So, why the F*CK would someone break into a car not to take anything - thats just petty vandalism and not proper car crime!!!

(remember Mr "house broken into, keys taken, scooby nicked"? - That's car crime!)

It could have been worse... the vandal may have been nearly caught as he was attempting to take the whole car. He may have run away before being caught. I'd claim the repair on your insurance too... that's what insurance is for!

I admit my first though upon seeing this thread was that a window regulator had broken. Are they as troublesome in Skodas as they are in VWs? My wife got a brief letter that a class action settlement is being pursued... I'd prefer it if VAG just made windows that would stay shut and fix the cars that don't!
