a new (gigaro) alloy is ~ £125 from dealership.

I'd be very surprised if they are that cheap from a dealer, although the Monte runs on Trinity wheels anyway

A refurb would probably be £100-150 I would think. I would be a little more concerned about the tyre. From the picture it looks as though the sidewall is damaged and that's never a good thing :-(

If the wheel still runs true, I would get to repaired, lots of places now offer powder coating or repaint with damage repair for about £45-£55.

My wife has done much worse to the near side front on our VRS, it will stay as it is because if I get it repaired she will only hit the kerb again.

My advice, the sidewall looks damaged, as said above.

Get it checked by a tyre place (the alloy, but the tyre wouuld be sensible too) to see if the balancing is out.  If not, get the paint stick and cover it.

If that's not an option, because the damage is too great, or you want a better job, go down the refurb (or new wheel if the cost is similar) route.

Tyre may be ok. Had a similar thing happen on our Fabia vRS when it accidentally got reversed over a pointy kerb stone. Kerbed the rim of the (diamond cut) alloy and a slit in the sidewall of the tyre.

It did not bulge but was convinced it would need a new tyre, took it to a local fitters, they examined the damage and said the slit had gone nowhere near the cord, was cosmetic and had not compromised the tyre operationally in any way. Ran it on the car for several more K and was sold on with the same tyre on the car. Get it checked but you might get away with it.

As to the wheel, absolutely a candidate for a smart repair, anyone worthy of the trade will be able to carry out a localised repair of the kerbing, you'll either never know or would have to look super hard to find where the repair was and will cost less than a wheel refurb or replacement.

I think i got two wheels repaired, one with a minor rim kerbing and one that was slightly more significant and had also damaged the black painteddl inner section; total cost was £80.
