1.4 TSI 122

Is this engine choice quite rare I've been looking around & can't see many for sale

I think it's quite popular.i think lots of people bought the 1.4 thinking the 1.2 would be underpowered. I compared the stats for the 1.4 and 1.2 when i was looking for a yeti and the difference is negligible. The people who have a 1.4 seem to be holding on to them. Im happy with my 1.2. Its plenty quick around town and I regularly get mid 30's mpg in town.

Id say it was certainly the rarest engine choice. I looked for one around 9 months ago for a work colleague and they were very thin on the ground, certainly rarer than my 1.8TSi (of which the diesels usually massively outnumber!) The 1.4 is a great engine, giving a little more than the 1.2TSi, noticeable on the motorway and slip roads in particular. :)

There are a few on motors.co.uk

3 elegance, 1 SE Plus, 1 SE and 1 S.

I'd concur they don't appear to be a big seller.

I believe the engine variant is withdrawn on the F/L models?

Yes it is and is being replaced with the 1.4TSi 140ps unit in most of the VAG group now.

Skoda haven't yet been honoured enough to receive the c.o.d version of the 140tsi so it's the standard version only for now.

I test drove the 1.4 and 1.2 models before purchasing my current car. I felt there was very little difference in performance between the two models but did think the 1.2 was a little quieter, but in fairness I did not get onto a motorway to really test them. Eventually I settled for the 1.2 engine as I wanted the DSG gearbox which was not available on the 1.4. So far I have not been disappointed in any way in choosing the smaller engine, and the seven speed DSG box is a joy to drive

Just turned 5000 miles in my 1.2 petrol, bought new in July. Performance is fine, holidayed 4 adults no problem.

Average fuel consumption improving towards 40 but expecting nearer 44 when run in properly. Insurance may be cheaper on 1.2 compared to 1.4 - road tax too?

Love EVERY drive in it - it's even better than I expected.

In the press release that came out many weeks ago it was mentioned that the FL Yeti would continue to get the 1.4TSI 122hp engine with manual and DSG gearboxes. I think the 1.4TSI 140hp engine is a new generation engine so far only used in the MQB based cars like the Octavia III and the Golf VII.

My guess is that the 1.4TSI 122hp engine has been dropped from the UK lineup as it may not have been a big seller compared to the 1.2TSI or maybe it will be added to the lineup at a later date. I can see that this engine iscurrently being offered on the Yeti as well as the Yeti Outdoor in Sweden alongside the 1.2TSI engine.

That's my take on it also but I'm sure I read it had been dropped for the yeti fl. :)

I have been driving a 1.4 Tsi for nearly 3 years. Wouldn't trade in  for a FL version 'cos there isn't one! Skoda have withdrawn the 1.4 and 1.8 petrols. Mistake.

I get 38-40mpg in motorway driving. Round and about at non-motorway speeds 45-48mpg. Why buy diesel?

Skoda Norway has just come out with the pricelists for the FL and we still have the 1.4TSI 122 hp with a manual gearbox or DSG. We also have the 1.8TSI 4x4 (manual or DSG). However the prices for both these engines have gone up considerably compared to the pre-FL Yeti that I dont think these wil be popular choices.

Skoda have withdrawn the 1.4 and 1.8 petrols.

The 1.8TSi definitely is still available in the FL. (Outdoor L&K for one - haven't looked any further)

Yes 1.8 TSI 4x4, in Outdoor,but Laurin&Klement version only.

But not in the spec that most of us mortals would buy.......
