Cambelt kit Water pump - price paid?

Featured Replies

it's that time of year again and i have the car set up for a Cambelt & water pump change, despite 150k miles I have an AA warranty which needs ironclad proof of it being done should anything go in the engine further down the road.

I have a garage I know and trust for reasonable labour charge, but the parts for the Cambelt & Water pump are coming in at £186 + £80 for kit & waterpump. They admit this is higher than they expected but they don't buy from anyone but Unipart.

They have said they are happy to fit whatever I supply, so i am keen on what others recommend for buying genuine, non-chocolate parts reasonable.

Is the below sufficiently fool proof kit?

Both have more expensive variants on Eurocarparts, approx £10 more expensive, but I can't tell the difference!?

Cheers guys

Beware the 'parts weren't supplied by us and therefore we won't accept responsibility if anything goes ping' statement.

Contitech by Continental are fitted as OEM - I'd go for that. Seems cheaper too.

Sorry FriendlyFire, is that the wrong thread you have posted in? :)

I got mine done at midland vw for £265.

I got mine done for £300 at a local dealer using genuine parts

Paid 270 iirc a few months back, not sure what parts they were. Think they would have been the conti ones.

How long ago did people get them done? I can't find a garage that can do it for less than £380 which makes sense with the parts above + 3-4 hours labour!

Garage doing it did it for about £340 a couple of years ago but they just can't get near that price with the current part costs.
