Goodbye Superb Estate

Featured Replies

I've really enjoyed  owning my Superb Elagence Estate (CR170 DSG), it has truly has lived up to the models name.

She "is supposed" to be leaving me this Friday, and the new one is to arrive. It's the car I've always wanted and a bit of 50th present to myself.

I'll pop a picture up here, when it's actualy happened, just in-case something goes ***s up.

I'll take a peep in the forum still, if that's OK?  (I'm staying within the VW/Audi group),

A6? A8?

Something sporty or luxury I reckon - RS4? S4?

Sorry guys

Drove a Tiguan R-Line 1st, it was very good, then tried a Yeti, not so good, then in a moment of stupidity, I went and drove this.

Very nice, Dave, very nice

Care to give us the spec.?

PS - I see from your Photobucket uploads you're a bass player - nice gear! I play a 5-string OLP 'Tony Levin Signature' through a vintage Peavey TKO75 combo, or a Behringer Bass V-amp Pro Modeller rack when recording.

It is a "3.0ltr TDI, A4 Avant Quattro, S-Line (Black Edition)"

The main bits then,

The V6 Diesel (245bhp and 500NM)

Quattro thingy

Sports suspension that is surprisingly comfy

Big screen with 2xSD readers, USB/Ipod connections and a built in HDD etc.

I like this one very much, a 505W Bang & Olfsen, 14 speaker sound system, and "yes" it sounds wonderfull.

19" x 8.5"rims (255x35x19 tyres)

Blacked out grills etc.

Blacked out windows.

Much better driving ergonomics for those with long legs and ams (i.e. the steering wheel comes back way further, allowing straight legs)

This one is a wierd, lower emissions and "if true" slighty better MPG.   I do doubt this one, because drag starts are real fun in this - lol

And I am indeed a Bass player, the Nordy is gone now though.

Well, it's a massive step down from the Skoda, but in these times of economic peril, one must downsize when one must I guess!

Hope you manage!

you lucky *******

Stupidity and that car do not go hand in hand!

Very nice choice - nice colour too, suits it.

Yep the emissions is where Skoda is being let down, they are only just getting the latest engines

the Nordy is gone now though.

Not in order to fund the Audi, I hope. That would be a sacrifice too far....

I have gone the other way!

I had a 3.0 Tdi Quattro avant SE manual for just about 4 years and now have a Superb CR170 4x4. The Audi was a fantastic car and I averaged a calculated 37mpg ( the computer always suggested about 43-44) over the 45000 miles. I tried the s-line sports suspension but couldn't get on with it so after a lot of effort found an 6 month old SE with standard wheels and springs. As I have an aversion to auto boxes, I couldn't contemplate a nearly new A4 with the same engine (S-tronic is standard), and my changed circumstances meant that the Superb was the way to go. I am very happy with the build and drive of the Superb. The only two things I miss are the extra go and refinement at town speeds of that peach of an engine, although to be fair I don't need the oomph for 95% of the time in normal driving and above 40 mph the superb is quieter, and the other is the digital speedo in the MFD.

Enjoy the Audi

Edit:

I am 6'2" and I found it no problem to get a comfortable driving position in the Superb-hadn't noticed any lack of adjustment

Do like that.

Hope that you have gone for DSG otherwise the driving position is a shocker pedal wise.

I looked at the A4 and A6 Avant when i was looking to change from the Superb; A4's boot was teeny and the A6 was overpriced!

Still love it tho, and will be considering one for the wife's next car... but prob the 177bhp!

I should have said, it is the later 7-speed, wet plate DSG, (S-Troninc in Audi speak), so no problems with that lump in the floor.

As to the boot size, I took the rubber boot mat out the Superb and it fits in the Avant just fine, it's aout 1" too long but as the floor is a bit lower than the loading sill, the mat sits in there well enough for me, there's about 2" uncovered space down each side of the mat too, that'll be where the Skoda accessory rails were in the other car.

By my reckoning the boot floor area is not much smaller at all, I found this quite surprising in a nice way but the legroom in the back is another story, it don't worry me as I never get a rear passanger but that is where the 5" longer Superb put those extra inches.
