Remaps

Featured Replies

It has been covered a lot... But where is the place to go for a Stage 1, then Possibly Stage 2 Remap, I don't mind travelling a bit to get it done, just means more fun on the way home.

thanks

Chris

from taunton, badger 5 isnt too far up the m5, or theres a revo dealer in ilminster, forget their name though. Obviously, badger 5 is better

or if u want a cheap one i know a guy in exeter, i had one on my old car seemed to be a good map

What ever your doing don't get an eBay "mapper?" To flash your ecu...

(Ones that are usually £150)

They don't know $hit...and will wack the boost up and nothing else..

IE it will run lean..

Get a proper mapper to do the job properly..there's plenty out there with a good reputation..

My recommendation is badger 5 too..

:)

Not completely true!

I used moreBhp.com very good, knowledgeable and helpful. Mine was a postal remap cost £99 and was excellent! Can't fault them and they have lots of good reviews

Lots of people on LCR.net use them

a postal remap?   WTF is that and where's the fun in that?

go R-tech if you can, simply not substitute  (busy guys...always a good sign)

or give TSR performance a ring  (tsr-performance.com?)  they are right next door to you!   TA6 6LD

or go JKM in portsmouth

(and if you want to go Stage2, get in touch, got some parts for you, as I have just gone stage3)

Have you logged the car?

You send your ecu via insured courier and you get it back!!! It's a generic map much like you stuff get from most of the places, just because they don't put it straight on a RR doesn't make it any less decent

Have you logged the car?

It's been on VAG.com for unrelated stuff but checked the engine parameters and all seems well

Seems well or is well?

Has the car been on the rollers?

I'm not for one min thinking that it don't go well..

But there are many many so called mappers that can flash a ecu..and that's it.

I thought my LCR was ok..until I logged it..egt protection was kicking in..

AFR was 14.4 on full boost..,EGT was over 950!

Not good at all...

:(

They ain't £99 for no reason..unless they have pirated someone's map.

Been on rollers at a sensible 205bhp which is what I asked for ( didn't want it running up high Bhp without supporting mods) which I know some mappers do, I've got the rr chart some where and it's a good torque curve that doesn't rely heavily on boost.

Seems/is well AMD technic at lakeside rollored it (they race a car in BTCC) and they were very impressed with it, I had them check it over and they were more than happy!

Jason at morebhp said basically he can do soooo many of these as he does it by post that his over heads are minimal and the quantity he can do brings down prices, ( I queried the price too) he does have a workshop and a RR but once the map is worked for a generic engine it's easy to apply. Surely no different to an ecu plug in map??

Well if it's been on the rollers and they guy has rollers..no doubt it's works fine.

Like I said, people just need to be aware that there are a lot of cowboys out there!

It's all to easy to get a laptop and cable and start flashing $hite maps...then call yourself a "mapper"

No totally agree

Just something to be aware of some good companies knocking around

Had a more bhp map on mine for 6 years too, no issues.

TSR performance a ring  tsr-performance.com

avoid tsr, they blew their rep yrs ago

And I hope you can agree I never said anything about whether the map is decent or not.  I was enquiring about the fun of sending off your ECU and plugging it back in.

But I hope you can agree that there is a lot more potential pitfalls when buying a remap on ebay as opposed to going to a tuner who has an established reputation and who is known to the community.

As far as I am concerned, the money I pay allows me to talk to the tuner and enjoy the subject.  So not about having the power for the sake of it, but because of the way you get to it.  (if that makes sense)

Wouldn't want to comment nor judge on your setup, I have never seen nor driven your car

Clive @ CNTuning is a top bloke and will sort you out a stage 2 map in no time.  He can also do a smoke test to verify your car is ready for more.  Well worth the extra money if you ask me

I was lucky enough that Revo had a 'sale' on the go for their re-maps when I bought my VRs back in 2010.

So I went off to JKM in Portsmouth and had a stage 1 done for £199.

3 years later, she is still running and pulling as beautifully as the day she rolled out of JKM.

So - for what it's worth - I can recommend JKM!

Autotechnica in Hull near me have 20% off Revo maps till mid January
