Another one with remote key problems

Featured Replies

Hello,

First of all, I'm from Portugal and my english is poor.

I have a 2-button non-flip key, when I replaced the battery, the chip fell to the ground and began to work very badly, I have to bear with great force the close button to close the car.
What can I do? If I have to buy a key can it be with a flip key?

It's a little bit urgent.

Thank you all.

Regards

When you say chip...do you mean the glass type tube that's inside the key fob?

You can replace the key fob,but will need the chip out of you old key fob (this is for the immobiliser)

and just reprogram the key fob to you car..which is easy.

Then a I can use the new flip key with the old glass tube? Just needing to reprogram?

I've had this happen before with a worn VAG key fob.

Are the buttons of your key fob very worn? If they are, a new fob case, swapping over the blade & internals will probably solve the problem. When the fob case gets very worn the buttons don't make proper contact with the chip microswitches

Yes I'm sure you can just replace the chip/fob and reprogram it.

You will deffo need the glass tube/immobiliser chip!

Or else your car will not start..

Try the above first though..
