mk1 vrs struggling when starting in cold weather

Featured Replies

jumped into my vrs last night to go get some petrol.

was a bit hesitant when starting but was ok.

when I got to the garage (5mins away) and filled up it refused to start the first time

I went for it again and it started fine

Am I looking for some sort of cold start valve or something else on the blink?

You know what we're all going to say. Needs to go on vcds to be sure, could be a number of things.

I might be stating the 'bleedin obvious' here...but is it not the battery?

Mine started to become a little slow and reluctant last winter too. So I went off and bought a lovely Bosch Silver battery for her. Result = she spins over and catches within microseconds now. One happy car again.

Batteries can struggle on for ages in normal weather - but as soon as it gets cold, like it has done now - it highlights an old / tired battery pretty damn quick.

Do you know how to test your existing battery?
