The price of brake discs and pads.

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased a set of 312mm calipers from an Audi tt, with the aim of fitting them sometime in the new year.

I'm just looking to price up some disks and pads but is it just me or does the price of these items seem high?

On Euro car parts they list Pagid discs at £33 per disc and thats on offer! Should I buy or is there a better, cheaper place to purchase (I don't want to compromise on quality though) or am I just being a tight git?

What do you guys think?

50p for both delivered and you got a deal.

ECP are offering up to 50% off this weekend with no code?

seems to me that the BRISKODA code isn't of value to them any more, last time I went in the guy behind the counter told me that they regularly do the discount that is greater than any code that forums have.

Mr Rooney how do you rate those brembo max? all looks and no difference to blank oems or any better?

I found them alot better than standard with green stuff over standards on my old ibiza cupra

Was that in 312mm form or standard form?

Would people on here recommend up-rated over standard or just put the extra money towards something else? My car is almost standard apart from Weitec coilies, soon to-be 312mm calipers and a cheapo tuning box to-be eventually re-mapped sometime next year.

Cheers buddy that gives me a few more options. I tried the hot30 promo code and it doesn't appear to be valid anymore. :( Pagid pads and disc's come too £100

those were the standard front discs on a 2.0 8v

Not sure as I've only ever used OEM discs when I bought car new 10 years ago and after that various grooved discs as they're supposed to be slightly better. . A lot of people on track days use cheap discs (£33 lol) but expensive pads >£200 with good results but they change discs regularly as they wear quickly.

I've just bought some nitrac discs which are well over £100 for the 312mm and around £90 for the rears. Used them before and they wear very well. My old ones corroded before wearing out. This time I've painted them with VHT paint to stop the corrosion. Not fitted them yet as in no rush.

The best pads I've ever used in 10 years of owning my car is tarox corsa+ . I just laughed out loud when I kept pulling up short when driving the nurburgring.

Should of bought another set instead of Corbin Loraine CL5+ I now have. They're good but not as good as the corsa+ pad.

I've recently bought myself some new discs but trying to sort some uprated pads out, I was after Mintex M1144's but its a 6-8 week wait for them, will never use EBC, may go visit Tarox soon and see what cash price they can do for the pads is as there UK distribution is around the corner from me

I'm also looking to replace all my discs and pads, so many offers and so many brands to choose from.

Looking at EPC there's some pads (i.e Pagid front) but there's more than one model number and price, confusing which to choose...

A good friend of mine who instructs at MIRA, and does work for BMW,(Mini) and track days swears by what Mr Rooney said, good discs and cheap pads for track days.

However, for road use it's a different matter.

SWMBO has updated discs and pads on her vRS and when cold you would get better braking by trying to clamp two pieces of wood to the discs with your bare hands than that given by this set up.

Funnily enough I had a TVR with TVR Challenge spec brakes and when cold they were useless.

Choose wisely my friend.....
