I currently have a 1.9TDI PD Fabia combi 2004 model

 

I was wondering if there is any recommended way of changing the gear ratios (mainly wanting a higher gear for moterway crusing.

 

If possible, would either want a 6th forward gear, above the current 5th gear, or possibly just a higher gear to replace the current 5th gear.

 

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this done, and if so how much it cost to have done.

 

vw touran 6sp gear box?? not sure on gear ratios though? you would have to look in to workshop manuals and compare the actual ratios ...

6speed gearbox off a vrs in for sale section £300 The bloke selling is after a 5 speed so you might even be able to do a swap

if you read the other thread ^^^^ a 6speed vrs box wont be a easy swap on to a pd100 it requires a lot more parts

he is doing a conversion to a 5 speed so assumed he would be changing those as well/additional parts could be moved between vehicles - just an idea wasn't going to read the whole thread for something not that applicable for me.

I hear about all the time people changing the final drive on their gear box.

My friend dan did it on his VW T4 tdi van.

This is something I'd be interested in too, just to drop the revs on the motorway and make it a little more economical.
