Featured Replies

Has anyone had any issues with little rust spots on the tail gate below the reg plate??

Any help would be great. Thanks

many many treads on this , sills also .... first step is normally a trip to the dealer to try and get some work done under the 10 year paint warranty

Oh we'll then so it's a common fault then. I'm getting my dine just been to the body shop they are also going to paint my peeling spoiler as well so I'm chuffed lol.

they actually honor the paint warranty then? as mines rusting around where the numberplate SCREWS are.... and where the number plate lights are. mines a may 2004 and closest skoda dealer (as the one local shut down 3 years ago) is in stockport?

Ooooo I may have to try this!

My tailgate is awful :(

Loads of rust under the skoda badge itself and all the way around the numberplate lights, so much so my tailgate button has rusted away completely.

Mine's an 04 plate so will need to do it sooner rather than later

Do it! Don't waste any time. Why would you turn down a brand new tailgate?

Get down the dealership ASAP.

Mines is a 07 still got a couple if years to get any other bits that pops up. Yeah I'm with gfwc don't waste any time.

Yep, I'm working a half day Friday.

So I shall get the car cleaned and then head straight to my local skoda!

(Nobody would know if it was rusty or not being as its all a rather horrible shade of brown at the moment!)

Spotted a little rust while i was getting tyres fitted the other day, local Skoda dealer is 3 minutes down the road :)

The sooner the better. Even better if they have an in house bodyshop. I had to make 2 visits because they were useless and told me to come in, only to tell me to come back the following day because they dont have a bodyshop and needed someone to look at the car.

Just checked the log book and the 10 year warranty expired on the 4th of this month, think it's still worth giving it a go??

Might be worth giving it a go, and arguing the case that the rust didnt form in the last couple weeks it's been there for months etc.

If I'm honest, i think they'r just going to turn you down. But with the amount that they have had recently there could be a chance.

Any opportunity for them to turn it down though, they will because it costs them money of course.

Good luck

I got turned down for this recently.

They said to pop in tomorrow and they'll have a look, the spoiler is also a mess so i'll see if they can do anything about that

Which dealership did you go to? My local dealership said mine isn't the type that's covered but would like a 2nd opinion!

I went into Caffins Skoda in Ashford orbital park.

THE WORST DEALERSHIP I'VE EVER BEEN TO!

I used to sell cars and work in a large dealership for Ford Peugeot and Nissan.

The guys here are absolute rubbish and have the worst customer service. I sat in the service waiting area for a long period of time and got to observe how they were with their other customers... appalling. Never mind, mine is booked in.

In Ashford they don't have their own body shop and get one of the VAG specislist bodyshop people to come down and pass the information to skoda.

So i'd give them a call first to book a time for you to come in. They've already seen mine, not so long ago, so i'm pretty sure they'll do it.

Good luck

They told me (the skoda dealer) That i couldnt have a car.

If I wanted one I'd have to pay like £20.00 a day

they told me that the £20 a day was for insurance and if i insured it with my insurance it was free

Took my fab in to my local dealer on Friday afternoon having just had the car washed I was told it still wasn't clean enough for the guy to take photos.....

Anyway he said he thinks it may have already had a paint job... ( I have no record of this and can't personally see any difference in the paint, but hey ho).

He also asked if I had any problem with the rear doors leaking. I know this is a common issue, but I don't see how damp carpets is going to affect the rust on my tailgate? Whilst looking at the car I also mentioned that the tailgate release button, between the number plate lights, has totally rusted inside and has never worked in the time I've owned the car. He was quite shocked at this and said he'd never seen that before. Anyone else had this?

Anyway he's asked to have my car in for the day on the 11th for it to be properly cleaned and for him to compile his report and take photos.

Fingers and toes crossed Skoda give him the nod to sort it under warranty!!!
