Fabia Scout exhaust sensor problems

Featured Replies

My Scout 1.6 TDI (105) 2010 has been running pretty well until this July (just out of warranty). Whilst on holiday the glowplug warning light began to flash. At the end of that short trip the light went out and was later replaced by the engine management light coming on. As I was unable to get to a dealer until I got home from holiday I had to put up with the e/m light coming on occasionally.

My local Skoda dealer advised that the Lambda (?) sensor was at fault and replaced it. On returning the car to me the glowplug and e/m lights came back on. As this persisted for a few more days they took the car back and advised me that they needed to replace two other exhaust system sensors. A couple of days later the e/m light came on again and they took the car back in. They claimed that the fault was still related to the Lambda sensor and that the one they put in was faulty. This was replaced under guarantee and for three weeks or so I had no problems before the e/m light returned. They have now tried replacing the wiring to the ECU, which I guess hasn't worked as they are now trying to charge me to put in a new ECU!

Has anyone else experienced any similar problems with this version of the Fabia Diesel? If so I would very like to hear from you and find out how the problem was rectified/

.

Hi

I had a similar experience some time ago. See my post linked below.

As you'll see only 1 exhaust gas temperature sensor (number 3 ?) was replaced in my case but interestingly an ECU 'update' was available and was downloaded by the Skoda Assistance technician.

Since then the car has performed faultlessly.

Sorry to learn of your problem. I am just about to collect a new 1.2 TSI (to replace my 2011 CR90 TDI) - which has had a similar problems from new - now nearly 2 years old.

I have had 3 turbo's - many sensors - 2 rewires, plus other work, and the problem returns in a matter of weeks each time. Gave up, and decided to unload the vehicle as wife totally disenchanted with continually going into limp mode (which is dangerous in my opinion).

The big shame is we did like the car, despite its faults, but enough was enough. Garage have been brilliant throughout, but a lasting answer to the problem has yet to be found regrettably.

I would recommend AAK's route, and insist that a full latest ecu download is done without delay. I would suggest that only then can one say with certainty that the ecu is to blame.

Good Luck
