A visit from Skoda Assistance

Featured Replies

Had Control System for Exhaust warning lamp come on last Sunday when starting from cold so called Skoda Assistance for advice. They sent a technician out who plugged in his diagnostic laptop which pointed to a faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor range/performance (it was reading 230+oC when cold!) Identified as sensor 3.

He also noted an available ECU update so downloaded that.

Today he returned with a new sensor - fitted on our driveway in 20 minutes - and cleared the fault.

Driving the car later I felt it was driving much better than it had (more flexible?) and after a bit of a run it achieved 64 m.p.g. without really trying!! Previously I would have been pleased with 55/56 m.p.g.

Wish I could give some detail of the update but I wasn't given any paperwork. The technician phoned me later in the day to check that all was well. Altogether great service.

Will monitor fuel consumption and should I subsequently find out anything more I'll post again.

What excellent service from Skoda :-)

I used the assistance route when I had a problem with the climate control on a Golf I had, fixed there and then and I know if I had used the VW garage it would have been much much more hassle.

They dont stick the muppets in the assistance vans, these people are great mechanics who need to think a little. In my experience most main delears just repair cars by replacing parts by trial and error.

I had Skoda assistance out to my VRS last night, it was for a engine management warning light that briefly lit up on Saturday.

The guy was spot on, he run a diagnostic check with his lap top and quickly found the fault, it was a wire pulling on a connector that controls the engines fuel pressure solenoid. His knowledge of VAG engines was brilliant, he sorted out the problem no fuss.

We took the car out for a test run with the diagnostics still running and then he went on line to see if there where any updates for the cars software.... top service. Well done Skoda. Ron.
