Don't be a fool and leave your car alone to warm up. Someone has learned the hard way today.

This post is on the same level with the one about 'all the Octavias' that have caught fire.

Scaremongering with little evidence. You might as well read the Daily Mail.

By the way...it is 'should have' not 'should of'.

*facepalm*

Why would the Police lie about a car being stolen ?

But this happens, a lot!!!!!!!

I don't think they are lying. But is it new? Is it specific to Skoda? Is it in any way the fault of the car?

IMO, if you need to be advised of the risk that your car might be stolen if you leave it unlocked and engine running outside your house, you might not be quite ready for this advanced form of transportation.

I do apologise for the pedantic spelling comment.

There not saying it's specific to the car but giving details of the car that's stolen on the off chance someone may see it and report it.

Also they spelled it sCoda!!

That plate belongs to an Octavia SE (CR). Bet the owner is a bit upset, especially if the insurers play hard ball...

Perhaps I should have spelt it 'sKrotum'?

How does the winter pack stop the car being stolen if you leave it parked up with the keys in and the engine running? I assume it contains a remote operated ejector seat to fling the thief out the sunroof?! ;-)

Dont forget the people that are run over and sometimes killed by the theiving scumbags who steal their cars whilst they are scrapping the windows! Theres at least one of those each year

Stolen with keys whilst unattended so they won't pay up.

Even if you lock it whilst running. You really think they wouldn't smash a window and be off? They'd be gone in seconds.

Last cold snap 30 cars were stolen in ONE morning round here. All left running with keys, some locked.

Local force said not one of the insurance firms paid out!

A timely warning, just imagine no car and still having to pay the finance co. because the insurance won't pay.

And I hate to think what the insurance renewal would cost on the next car, if you could afford one.....

Just to add to advice from the local force in the past, if you leave running whilst scraping, leave the drivers door and drivers side of the windscreen until last.

That way you can get to the keys quicker than a thief should be able to.

Nothing scarier than being chased by an angry bearded

kitchen knife wielding man with an exposed scrotum so I reckon anyone trying

their luck might get more than they bargained for.

haha.. Class..

So if he had KESSY when they drove the car away, would cut out when it gets out of range?

Wouldn't cut out. But they wouldn't be able to start it again when they turn it off.

This should never happen to me because.

1. The car is stored in a garage

2. The car is always in my garage and I either walk or catch the train.

3. Why have I got a car?

To stop your garage looking empty.

Go to car.

Start engine - full screen demist mode.

By the time you've done the sensible thing and scraped the frost/ice off the rest of the windows (starting at the windscreen) then all will be safe to drive off.

SImples...as long as you keep the inside of the screen clean as you should anyway?

To stop your garage looking empty.

Good idea. I'll keep it. Lol.
