Trip up to Shark

Featured Replies

So this week had it booked in at Shark for a stage 1 and to fit the Whiteline RARB.

Impressions of the car after 250 miles (quite a few B road miles in that) is that it's much improved. Far less understeer, much more predictable handling. Finding the stage 1 very smooth with much more torque and the power extends further up the rev range.

So very impressed. Yes I could have fitted the Whiteline myself, but I didn't fancy crawling under the car in the cold and my new impact hadn't arrived.

Had my shark remap a couple of months ago and just ordered my roll bar from awesome. Anti lift kit after that. Don't really want to have to drop it because trying to keep it comfy family wagon lol

Hi,

I'm a new Skoda owner so forgive my ignorance.

Just got a 63 plate mk2 Octavia estate vrs diesel, although it's reasonably pokey I would still like a bit more. So is Shark the best place for these cars?. do Skoda not do an official remap that would keep the car under warranty?

I also like the sound of the car handling a bit better but have no idea what you are on about when you say - Whiteline RARB, could you please tell me what this is please and how much.

Thanks

Shark is one of most popular. I went there because of recommendations and I'm very happy with the results. The roll bar connects both rear sides of the suspension basically with a metal bar. Made an amazing difference on my fabia I had so I'm hoping it will have the same affect on my octavia. Ordered one today from awesome on there black Friday deal, got it for £140 usual price £160 ebay £177

Oh right I see thanks for the info so quickly. I had heard of Shark before, the only concern is the warranty if having anything other than an approved skoda remap done (unless they can't tell of course?). Surely the police octavias must be remaped from new from skoda?

I like the sound of the roll bar on the back as I find the ass end a little twitchy, but that could also be tyre pressure as they feel very soft at rated psi, any chance you could send me a link  to the roll bar please I will invest in one of these after xmas.

Mine has the 18" alloys on can anyone who's been running this car for a while tell me the best tyre pressure setting they have found? atm I have the fronts on 30psi and the rear on 29psi

Cheers

That's lower than the pressures we run. Check the suggested pressures on the fuel filter cap. I usually add 0.1 bar

Also depends on tyre brand

MrG,

No skoda don't do an official remap. Your 63 plate cr will have an encrypted ecu, so the mapper will have to do 'enable' it before they can remap your engine ( sorry I don't know what they have to do but would like to know)

that applies to both Shark and superchips, though with superchips you can use their bluefin device after so can take the map off and put the standard one back on if you want when it goes in for a service etc.

Another option is a tuning box from someone like dtuk, which is a diy plug and play job so your ecu remains untouched so you can unplug the box and return the car to original. I'm not suggesting which option is best, just providing some possible options. Good luck
