Want a new car but don't know what!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, had my fabia vrs around 18 months now, serving me great no real issues to speak of.

Im just getting a little bit bored and want something abit bigger.

Hopefully i could get around £2800 for mine and want a bit of change after buying something else.

I like the look of the facelift vectras as well as the signums.

Any one else got any suggestions?

Must be diesel :)

Bmw 320d :)

Vectras...I know a bit about them. I had a 2006 facelift 1.9 CDTi 150bhp Sri diesel for just over a year. It spent more time at Vauxhall than it did on my drive. 2 sets of swirl flaps, an alternator, a gear knob that kept falling off and a number of other issues. Looked and drove fab though. Mine wasn't an isolated case though, if you google it lol.

If you want something bigger, look at a mk1 Superb with the 1.9 130bhp diesel, get it mapped and your laughing. Or as Jase says a 3 series but with your budget you will struggle to find a good one I think.

Ah i misread that you want a bit of change from £2800 :o

Doesnt leave much cash

Beware of VAG 2.0 TDI engines, some have a badly designed oil pump drive-shaft from the balancer unit that wears away and stops oil flow, so depending on what one you get you could have one with this fault, it went on my bosses sons A4 estate not that long ago, new turbo was one of the things that was needed. Before that he had an Astra, they have bad gearbox issues hence why he got rid of that, it was on its way out ahd at least 3 people he knows had gearboxes go on Astras too.

The 2ltr tdi is a lemon in PD guise. Go for the CR generation engines, the one in our Passat is astoundingly powerful and up to now, reliable so long as the motor is given chance for a run now and again. A shafted DPF is a nightmare.
