Unheard of - poor heater performance?

Featured Replies

Have been driving the Citigo for the last couple of days and although I know the weather is colder but the heater doesn't seem to be anywhere near as powerful (hot) as before? Demisting takes a hell of a long time and as a test we drive for about 20 minutes with the heater on max and recirc and was only just comfortably warm. I would normally have been fried alive within about 5 minutes before it had its service back at the end of October.

Apparently they did some sort of software update but wifey didn't pay much attention to what she was told - anyone know what it might have been? Could it have had something to do with the heater or am I imagining it?

Possible that it has a faulty thermostat?

Possible - odd it's only become an issue since the service (oil change only IIRC?)..

Think ours wasn't in the airbag recall build but will double check.

something wrong there my wifes citigo id warm after 5 mins and blowing hot after about 10mins ................better than my new vrs

Mines very hot too on MAX after about 1 mile. Don't have mine on recirc though and no air con on.

I'm having to turn ours down after a few miles, have the knob set around 12 o'clock setting after the initial warm up.

Apart from heater performance, I think it's taking a long time to demist BECAUSE it's on recirculation. It needs fresh air (and maybe air-con) to demist properly.

Tried it on recirc and normal air, next to no change.  Aircon used on full screen demist.

Have logged it with the dealer - apparently they'll call me today about it.

Only time I came across this was on an MG ZR; it was coolant leakage due to head gasket failure. I think most Skodas have a coolant level sensor?

Coolant level fine..

Doing lots of stop/start or a decent run?

  • Author

Heater used to be fine on short runs.  Not so last weekend - and even not good on a longer run.  Even wifey commented that she's never had to have the heater at more than the 12 o'clock position - even last winter (2012/3).

No S/S in terms of the engine as its an ASG.

Do you have a PID if so set up the display to show engine temp or use the MFD. That will tell you if the engine temp is not stable e.g.  not keeping 90 deg and the thermostat is defunked?

PID dead - see my other post..

Not having much luck with the car lately are you mate :(

  • Author

Fine until it was serviced :(

Your not having a good time of it. Does your das have the multi function display e.g. the two buttons on the edge of the wiper stalk. If so you can scroll to the engine temp which is normally 90 deg after a few minutes.

  • Author

Don't have the buttons on the stalk.  I do on the Fabia, so went to press them and found they weren't there.

Elegance doesn't have the stalk buttons?

Thats news to me... I assumed it would have everything?

I thought it was standard for Elegance to have the MFD?

  • Author

That's the Convenience Pack option - with parking sensors.  Ours didn't come with that (we had the sensors dealer fitted).

The PID does those functions anyway - when it works

I don't have parking sensors but have the mfd

  • Author

Maybe different spec on the Sport?  Probably changed on the Elegance now as well!  Don't forget the PID is standard on the Elegance, and shows the same info.

Maybe, im not sure.

Just thought the Elegance would have it as standard tbh

Everydays a learning curve :)
