Well done!

Hope you got a good deal for the VW?

Mid Feb seems optimistic. I ordered 2 weeks ago and was told March. There's people on here who ordered October been given build weeks in Feb!

I've just had an update from my dealer, VRS TDI estate ordered at start of Oct with "standard 12-13 weeks delivery" is now due to be built mid-March and with me April (I guess) :-(

They have given me a set value for the polo for a Feb part-ex, will they have to keep to this if the octavia is delayed into march/April?

If it's on paper then yes.

I've got the same for my Blackline. My plan is to sell the Blackline private for at least £1k to £1.5k more. Should be do able and will also get my monthly payment down to almost the same as what I'm paying now.

I am just grateful that I have the agreed trade in value (as of Oct). So, all will work out ok in the end (and being the optimist, I expect that the delivery date will actually come forward so I can feel the benefit of the heated seats!).

Have you got a commitment on the sales document- fixed trade-in value until exchange?

All I have done is paid a deposit, I am going in this week to sign the paperwork, they have agreed to the future value via email but I will now make sure it states this in the agreement.

Not me, but love the smoothness of the TSI.( Had two previous MK1 Fabia vRS THEY WERE FUN) Recently owned a Mk2 Octavia TDI for a 12 months, nice motor ,economical but not as smooth a drive as this MK3 TSI.

Depends on the importance of the fuel economy and your the style of driving. I consider myself a smooth driver with the urge every now and then to give a some stick.

However, still averaging about 38mph-running mainly on Normal mode.

Forgot too say, that if you are high mileage user, then sell on residual may be important.

Only around 7k a year, daily 14 miles round trip but weekend surf trips of 100 mile round trips. Hard to sell the tsi to the wife regarding the road tax and mpg, however if I find the tdi boring to drive I will kick myself for not opting for the petrol. I suppose a good remap would liven up the tdi if needs be.

TSI true cost of ownership will always be a little higher, but the drive in MY OPPINION is far more refined and a little more lively...Obviously we get the extra 2 - 3K extra revs to play with too.... I have the TSI DSG VRS hopefully being delivered in December, so I could be biased!

You pays your money and takes your chose.

7k MILES IS NOTHING, RELATING TO THE FUEL COST AND ROAD TAX. OFFSET WITH MORE PLEASING GRUNT!! No contest , go for the TSI.

Give her a trip in a demo petrol back to back with diesel that will do it.

The TDI'S TORGUE means you can amble a long in one gear I guess.

Drive them both, you will be surprised at how much torque there is in the tsi, off the top of my head it's almost the same but comes in ever so slightly later but you have less weight in the tsi. Needless to say I opted for the tsi, it can be driven like a diesel if needbe or gives a big grin when revved. You will however be at the pumps more often, about 300 miles to a tank of mixed driving for me.

Any conclusion to the tussle with the missus?

Ive had exactly the same issue myself.

Had a Fabia vRS estate from new for 18 months or so. As you well appreciate the engine was fabulous (and unlike many I had no engine issues with mine other than it liked a drop of oil every few k miles) O found it disappointing to drive and made my mind up to look to swap to a Mk2 vRS estate.

My intention was to go TSi again but when I had the two finance calcs done on petrol v diesel, the petrol was going to cost approx £35/month more despite being the cheaper car. Along with the higher running costs (fuel, tax, insurance etc) it became obvious the TSi was a decision to be made firmly with the heart and not the head. Ultimately I didnt think the extra performance and additional cost was worth it, particularly when i landed myself one of the last BL DSG estates 25.5k of car at base list price with 20% off made for (at the time) an insanely cheap option i couldnt ignore.

Having had the TDi for a while have to say whilst its far from slow the performance has never really done it for me and really the TDi is a bit of a sheep in wolves clothing as IMO its not as quick as it looks whereas the petrol is more convincing, however its a damn sight cheaper to run when exploiting some or all its performance potential. The GTD and GTI are just the same. It depends whether the youre happy to make the extra financial commitment to the petrol or youd rather save some money to have a car that looks the same, goes less well but will cost you supermini bucks to run.

Went in tonight to sign the order form, stuck with the tdi in the end, head over heart. Made sure they had my polo part ex guaranteed future trade in price, in case the car is delayed by months! The long wait begins, wanted the anthracite alloys but just checking, its not stated on the order form, are these the default wheel?
