Octavia tdi strange problem

Featured Replies

Hi hoping you clever folks can help us out. I have 53 octavia 1.9, with 145 k . We bought it august 2012 but due to lots of reasons it was stood ( but regularly started movedetc) then put on the road in june this year. All was well for about 3 weeks, but then noticed it had a stutter within about mile of home. Also noticed that sometimes the revs would get to 2500 then it was if we hit a wall then little or no power and felt like turbo not working. It would not stutter again. Youncan her. The noise when itbstutters but is difficult tonexplain sort of like. Phut phut?? If i turn engine off at next junction and back on again, turbo comes back in and drives well again. Fuel consumption has gone from 49 running around, usually short trips, to 41. No fault codes showing on meter, but obviously something is wrong. Trying to avoid trip to dreaded main dealer, so any help is much appreciated.

It could be the sticky vanes problem, do a quick search for sticky vanes and mr muscle.

Ok, will do that thank you.

Try unplugging the MAF sensor.

Ok thanks , will try and attempt these things at weekend

MAF followed by CTS, and then a vacuum issue (n75/ sticky vanes)

Agree, if its been stood for a while without exercising the turbo then the carbon gums the vane mechanism up.

Really don't know how mr Muscle helps as its internal to the turbo.

I found that running a can of 10K boost through the engine (following the instructions to a letter) works really well.

You fire the Mr muscle directly into the turbo through the egr pipe.

If the car has been standing there could be rust causing the sticky vanes issue. In which case 10k or Mr muscle probably won't help and the turbo will need to come out and be stripped down.

A few weekends have come and went......any joy with this.  Your problem sounds a bit like what I'm having with our 51 plate.
