This car has had one previous owner (it was my brother's company car) prior to me acquiring it in 2008 at 69k from the lease company.  Over the last 5 years I've covered a further 120k - largely as a result of my regular 200 mile motorway commute (most recently a new job has meant I've covered 25k M4 miles since April). The car has been dealer serviced from new and at 188k still remains totally reliable and economical (50-55mpg). The mileage will grow 5-600miles/week.

I have every bill from new and it's been serviced every 10,000 miles (That's typically three times a year) by my local Seat Dealer.  It's taxed and mot'd until Sep '14. It had an £800 major service in Sept (which on top of the standard 60,000 mile service included new cambelt/tensioners, water pump as well as an aircon re-gas).  It’s running currently on a mixture of Uniroyal Rainsports and Bridgestone Turanzas (Bridgestones last huge motorway mileages). It uses no oil between services. It’s never let me down and the only non-routine items needed in last 5 years have been have been:

  • Alternator flywheel pulley and bottom arm bushes replaced in 2012
  • Window regulator in 2011
  • Driver seat foam base 2010

I’ve spent £5,600 on servicing and three sets of tyres in last 5 years for 120k miles motoring.

Things to note.

As you would expect from the mileage/motorway use it's got some stone chips on the bonnet and the front spoiler has some peeling lacquer.  The alloys reflect the mileage with some kerb scuffs and bubbling lacquer.

I did have an accident in it 2008 at 77k miles when I ran into the back of a car at about 15mph - however it was a pickup truck and so it needed bonnet, bumper and wings. Repaired through insurance claim

Selecting 1st gear is sometimes stiff. It's been like that for over 60k (2-3 years) and hasn't got any worse. I replaced gearbox oil (‘thought it advisable at 160k!) but that didn't fix it.  Dealer said alternative was to pull out the gearbox to look a selector mechanism but couldn't guarantee that was the cause and advised living with it - which I have with no problem.

For some reason the rear passenger side door will only open from the outside (It's been like that for 5 years - as I generally travel alone I never made a priority of paying the dealer a shed load to fix it).

Other than that it has a couple marks on the rear bumper - although they don’t show up in the photos.

This is a great little car - it's still very presentable and runs as well now as when I got it. I was hoping to keep the car and reach 250k but the need for something larger means a Touran has arrived on my drive and the Skoda has to go.
