dsg service

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the dsg boxes on the vrs needs to be serviced? I ve read theads saying their a sealed unit and never need servicing as they are maintenance free i think ive seen something feom skoda uk detailing this.

However awesome recommend its does i think before 40k due basically to the nature of the beast thia point seems resonable to me. Therefore my questions are

does it need servicing at some point?

If skoda deem its maintenance free and the seal is broken to service it would the warrently then be void?

I don't think the dsg box in the fabis Vrs does not need servicing.

The "wet box" in the earlier Octavias do, perhaps thats what Awesome mean?

Thats what i thought initially but awesome recommend to do it on the fabia. So with skoda uk saying not and various threads saying it does im a little confused. The price from awesome is good so im not too bothered paying it. But does it it really need doing.

The dry clutch dsg box in all Fabias doesn't need servicing.

The wet clutch box in higher torque models needs an oil change every 40k miles or 4 years. (Around £150 at independants)

Even if it did even after just 40k :o thats shocking (dry box). If their not charging a bad price then I wonder why not, what guarantee they giving after service??

dry box in the vRS no servicing required..... when mine gets to 100k I might put in a new clutch pack and oil change :)

Thanks guys if it doesnt need doing i ll not bother wasting my money. Plus i dont know what guarantees awesome are offering and it might effect my skoda warrenty. Ive got 1 year manuf left and another 2 extended. As i m planni g to keep the car for at least 3 years i just wanna make sure everthing gets done as required.

The oil in the dry clutch box just lubricates the gears just like a manual gearbox hence no need for changing it.

The Wet clutch box's oil lubricates the gears, lubricates and cools the clutches and is used as hydraulic fluid by the actuators and controls. It's important that contaminants picked up in the gears and clutches do not block or restrict the hydraulic circuit and is why there's a 40k/4 year oil change.

Thanks lee

Just a slight concern that awesome being a tuner an all and they dont know what dsg box is in a fabia

indeed, that would concern me.... I know more tech stuff than the "general staff" at our skoda dealer (like the fact that they had eibach springs on their parts list that they could fit to my car on delivery!) , but the tech who works on my car is awsome, and knows everything... just the sort of person you want working on your car!
