How much oil is in the VRS?

But how can I prove if they are doing the test fair enough? I can take it back to them with almost no oil in it but if they turn around and say that it passed What can I do to prove that it's using more than they say it is? I'm debating wether or not to even take the test again. It's not like I have over £100 just to chuck at them for doing nothing ...

Playing devils advocate here - it will by the sounds of it use £100 worth of oil in a service interval if its using that much?

If you're unsure, keep records (like this post) listing mileage when you topped up and how much and revisit the issue in 1/3/6 months (or when you've had enough of filling it with oil) or over the next 1200 miles?  It may get better, it may get worse or you may get a better idea of what it actually uses?

Full to oil light in 1200 miles is on the borderline although still a crazy oil usage in my book - it's not an RX8!

Get it done at another Skoda Dealership.

No need to have that dealer do the test.

You paid for the last test, those Figures and Report are what you paid for, Labour (They Discounted it,) Oil, Filter Plug.

If you know it uses oil over 621 miles beyond 0.5 Litres then that is what Skoda say is the Maximum.

Really i would call Trading Standards, get Advice and go from there,

it either is a bad one or not.

No idea where Skoda UK are coming from, you need to put stuff in Writing and demand they reply in writing.

Did they do a Breather Mod and an ECU update.

What oil did they charge the £23.22 plus VAT for, ? it is  cheaper than most dealers charge.

Good idea. And I never actually paid for anything I just refused to pay. They didn't do any mods to the car at all as they didn't see it necessary to do so. I think I'll keep an eye on it myself until after Christmas and keep a diary of how much I fill up, mileage etc. And if in a month or two it's still using too much I'll take it in for another test.

Thanks for all your help everyone :)

Are you speaking with Skoda UK Customer Services yourself  or getting told stuff by the Dealership.?

Who in the Dealership,

Service desk Reception, Workshop Manager or Senior Technician?

Ask to talk to the Dealership Manager possibly when next near them.

Skoda UK is who the Warranty is with and who i would communicate with.

I have been in contact with everyone you have listed there...except the senior technician, I contacted skoda uk who rang the dealer and then the workshop manager called me, most of my contact has been with the receptionist as they kept ringing me to pay the money...

What a sad story. In comparison I've been lucky. Maybe it's my engineering training that helped. I've been taught "facts not opinions" and that accurate data collection is key to any technical investigation. I involved both my dealer and Skoda UK from the beginning and was able to provide a detailed log of oil consumption from my own regular checks. I even converted the oil used to weight loss in grams and consumption figures in km per 0.5 litre. I'm not saying that this is necessary but the guys at SUK are not necessarily very technically minded and seemed to take my word. I got the breather and ECU mod without the need for a dealer consumption check. The cost of all the oil I used after reporting the problem was reimbursed via the dealer. When I told them that the breather made no difference the car went in for its one and only oil consumption check (there was never any mention of a charge) and the replacement engine followed soon after. It just failed the oil consumption check by a narrow margin but according to my figures it should have been a lot worse. Note that when undergoing a consumption test the car will tend to use more oil in slow stop start short runs compared to long distance runs on clear A-roads. I got an extra one-year warranty following the engine replacement but had to push SUK for this.
