Loud Noise Front Steering (Rubber on Metal)

Featured Replies

Hello All

Im just trying to figure out a noise coming from the front of my octavia.

Now it happens when turning left only, braking from 5mph below and bumps, turning the wheel right and it doesnt make the noise, turn it left and it squarks really loud. It sounds like rubber on metal. it will also do it on a stand still for instance when parking but only when turning the wheel left.

Iv replaces ALL shocks and topmount/bearings, front droplinks

The only thing really left is the steering rack and bush and the ARB bushes, or is there anything else that would make this noise?

Help is greatly appreciated

Cheers

Ade

Is it coming from a particular side of the car?

Outside and under the car it sounds as its the middle but a little to the N/S/F, Inside the cabin it comes from the O/S/F

I have the exact same thing front near side it's real load people stare like the cars about to fall apart I've had a good look over things all looks ok apart from exesive play in the bottom ball joint I suspect this is the course of the noise ???

It will only do it under load which is a bitch because my Octavia is lowered....

Ball joint hmm could be thanks for the heads up.

ARB bushes are common, knock the sleeves off and fit 17mm bushes.
