Octavia II, BKD engine, 3 loud beeps when switched on from cold only!

Featured Replies

Morning.

Just recently, and only very occasionally when switched-on for the first time after a few days, there 3 loud beeps from the dashboard area before the warning lights go out - and they do all go out and stay out! - and then the car runs fine and does not repeat the signal when switched-off and re-started (either immediately after the beeps or later in the day)!

Has anyone any ideas as to what these are about?

NB: the only thing I have noticed is that, when checked on the cold engine, the oil (505.1 spec, IIRC) level is getting down towards the Minimum mark on the dipstick - and I intend to top it later today - because of some recent longish journeys.

Thanks in advance.

A guess, low battery warning. But my BKD Octavia has never done it despite a dodgy battery earlier.

Thanks and worth a thought, although if it is that then there don't seem to be any other signs of a weak battery because the car starts OK and the lights seem normal intensity.

OTOH, the car is 6yrs/95k miles old and the battery is probably the original (am the 3rd owner, so can't be sure).

Mine was fine most of the time, but did suffer seriously if I left the radio or blowers on for too long with the engine not running.

Thanks, I'll try to make sure I don't do that (but don't think I really have done so very much anyway)

Regards

OTOH, reading the US TDI Club forum, it might be something like the "Comfort Control Module" - see this link http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=342756&highlight=tdi+beep. Although it refers to earlier versions, the same thing might make sense in my case :wonder:
