Car covers?

Featured Replies

Hi All

Unfortunately my poor old Octy vRS is the one left outside all year round, swmbo little Citigo hogs the garage.

Anyone recommend a good car cover?

Fed up of ice clearing etc

Looking for a sensible cover that is fairly easy to put on by myself and hopefully will stay on in the wind but last a while.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if you have used a cover before but I found it far more bother and hastle than just de-icing the car!   They're fine if you are moth balling it for the winter but taking it on and off regularly is a complete PITA. I now leave a fan heater in the car on an extension lead and a smiths mains switch timer, It comes on half an hour before I need to drive off, it works well because not only is the outside de-iced but the car is warm inside as well!

I think you are inviting scumbags to interfere with your car by covering it.

'Oooh I wonder what's under there??? It's not mine to mess with but I'll

go and have a nose. Oh, it's just a Skoda, that's disappointing I'll just

kick it/spit on it/scratch it/tear, burn or rip off the cover.' (Delete as applicable)

I hardly use my car and have often thought the same, particularly since I

wash it, and watch it get dirty again without so much as driving a mile in it.

But you are drawing more attention to it by covering it than you are by

leaving it visible. Someone will have a go at it eventually.

Car cover + a constant light breeze + a layer of dust = knackered paint work.
