Coin tray lid - won't stay down?

Featured Replies

Randomly, after my daughter we take hunting for coins, my coin tray lid won't push & secure down. It just lifts back up, I don't feel it catching or clipping the latch at all.

Has anyone else had this before? Is there a quick fix for it?

Cheers

Is it the tray on top of the dash if so you can pop it it and get into the working parts to have a wee look.

Regards Whoosh

Unfortunately it is the one below the heating dials, in front of the gear stick! It should have the same 'push'click'secure' mechanism as the top one on top of the dash, but for some reason mine isn't catching and just lifts back up again.

I have the same problem so would really appreciate if someone can give the solution.

If I'm reading above correctly its what would be the ashtray .

To get it out you pop out the gear lever surround and under it in front of gearstick are two torx screws (size 15) undo them and the whole ashtray pulls out and you can get into the working parts

Thanks for the post - ash tray is correct! Shows you what mine is used for, never even considered it an ash tray! :D

Will have a poke around this weekend, thanks :)

Yip I'm old enough to remember when a spare wheel was not an optional extra and when you got an ashtray and a ciggy lighter what's now called a smokers pack .

My ashtray holds my iPod (I'm not a smoker)

Good luck

I fixed mine the other day.On mine anyway there is a small plastic pin that goes in a runner. This had broken so I just used a small self tapper to replace it.
