Featured Replies

I've now managed to take the old one out thanks to help I received here. I would now like to purchase a new battery tomorrow. The old one was and Exide and says 'Type ES1' on it. Any advice? It's the first time for me to purchase a car battery. Thank.s

Since you have the comfort spec. you need a 65 Ah battery.

Thank you.

I found these on ebay. Postage Free. Is it the done thing to buy on ebay because they seem a little cheaper?

No sorry, I made a mistake. I think I should buy locally. :-)

If it were me I'd pop my reg No into this website, http://www.eurocarparts.com/ It will tell you the correct battery for your car. You can order online and pickup from your local store.

Thanks. Unfortunatley, there isn't one within 40 miles or so. What's Hallford's like?

Well- it's also known as Halfrauds ,if that answersquestion . I found one fast fit place locally the cheapest for a decent make last time I needed one . From charts ,there were two mentioned, butI took the origonal along and got one the same size etc . No critism, but giving a rough location on user control panel gives folk near you a chance to help .For me ,if asked by folks in Derby/Bristol  or midlands places near Coventry ,I'd suggest Britannia Tyres. If you're a RAC member ,they do a deal (including free delivery and fitting) for members. There's also VAG TPS.

Thanks. Unfortunatley, there isn't one within 40 miles or so. What's Hallford's like?

Halfords do tend to be on the expensive side.

I'd order one from ECP and get it on next day delivery if I were you.

Halfords 'cheapy' two-year warranty battery is about £60 from memory, the weight of the damn thing limits your options somewhat and it makes no sense to drive an eighty mile round trip to save a tenner, so I suggest you visit your nearest independent motor factors and get a cash price from them, it should be about £45-£50 all in, you're unlikely to do much better and a petrol fab doesn't need the all-singing-and-all-dancing battery that a diesel does so just get whatever's cheap and local.

I've put my location on now. Thanks for your replies. The nearest ECP is indeed an 80 miles round trip when I put in my post code and found the nearest in Swansea. So it will probably be a local motor factors.
