Thought I might do a little write up if the collection.......

Firstly, arrived at the dealer 20 mins early and a handover was just leaving. Just made it in the door when the dealer principal, sales contact and finance manager came to greet me and got a brew on.

After a brief chat taken through to the handover room. Door was unlocked which was a nice touch - no greasy mitts on my pride and joy !!!!

Lighting fantastic and the car had been prepared way way beyond my expectation. It looked stunning.

Was left to wander round it until I was ready to start.

The handover pack and explanation was spot on. Went through every detail of the car, set the phone up and showed every nook, cranny, switch etc. not condescending, got it just right. Went through all the options that I specified - nice touch.

All in all took around an hour.

Finally dealer principal came back and a thorough thank you for my business as the car was wheeled out into the sunshine. It looked even more awesome.

Right, onto the first impressions and drive !!!!!

I'm comparing come from a top spec range rover Evoque with meridian sound system so expectations were high.....

First take off I remembered how smooth and progressive the clutch is couple with a super slick manual shift - just a little snick to let you lknow you've selected. Brakes were not at all grabby, plenty of bite and again very progressive.

Steering was set on normal mode and was weighted just right with enough feel.

Out of town had a chance to open it up and switch to sport mode, perfect fort driving apart from the sound actuator. Not my cup of tea.

It's inch perfect on steering, really holds a nice line and the extra resistance in the steering is bang on.

Suspension is just right for me - firm enough but enough compliance to avoid low speed crash through bumps. Very nice.

The fit and finish internally and panel gaps coupled with great door closure should make more expensive cars feel ashamed - made my Evoque look agricultural outside on for and finish.

The nav and menu system is a joy - very intuitive and quick to navigate, living the touch screen sensitivity.

Sound system is initially good and very much a good value option - does sound tight but should loosen up.

Driving position, seats and visibility - spot on. Love the seat design and trim.

Audi and bee dub should be worried about losing sales to this car.

Well 60 miles of mixed roads today and 46.6 mpg indicated - compared to 31.2 on the Evoque once run in lol lol makes me chuckle !!!!!

A very satisfying day, westover skoda - I salute you.

Congratulations Madrunner and thanks for a great talk through of the collection and the car. Very helpful for when I collect in 3 or 4 weeks. I hope I get that sort of service from my dealer, makes the whole thing very special.

Impressed you managed to limit yourself to 60 miles. I have a feeling I'll be driving 600!

Great review unfortunately still no news as to when I can collect, I'm hoping next week now they missed my birthday! I wonder if all handovers are as good as Madrunners?

Went for a small blast today - I am truly amazed at the overtaking stomp its got.

Finally!! Just had a call from the dealer and my car will be delivered next Friday 24th Jan!

Top news ! The excitement can finally start !!!

Sorry for the slow post as I've had it since Monday. Too much work on to really have a good long play and an 8 month old! I nipped it down to North East Car Care today for new car detail and CQuartz Ceramic Protection. Shaun is posting photos on his Facebook page and I'll be taking some after I get it back tomorrow. Sod's law it'll chuck it down before I get a chance to break out the camera gear on the weekend!

I cannot believe the economy I'm getting on the first week. On my previous evoque I'd have burned 2/3 of a tank this week - so far just about 1/3 tank. This with giving the car a good work out.
