New car on order! Estate TSI DSG

Featured Replies

Finally bit the bullet, and put down the initial £500 deposit to get the ball rolling on my order.

I'm going back tomorrow as i wanted to try the Diesel vRS and compare it to the Petrol.

I will use the car for some business use, mostly motorway trips, and had to take 2 test drives in the Petrol to try determine if its practical enough for some work use, they said they can get me a Diesel DSG tomorrow morning to try as well so will see how that goes.

Anyway, my build order will be (providing i don't change it tomorrow)

vRS Estate TSI DSG - Candy White

-Anthracite wheels

-Black pack

-Canton sound (not heard much on this option, anyone have it?)

-Cruise control

-Columbus Sat nav with Colour maxidot

-Heated seats

-Heated washers

-Park assist

-Light assist with high beam control

-Kessy

-Sunset glass

-Spare wheel

I managed to get the price down by 5% as well which i was pleased with and wasn't expecting them to budge at all.

Now its time to play the horrible waiting game!

Hey, congrats on the tasty order !

However, £500 only ?! Here they request approx. 10%...

That's pretty standard in the UK, I've only every put £500 down on any new car.....

Thanks! :)

Yeah I'm down for a £2000 deposit but only require £500 to get the order started, i pay the rest when i pick up the car.

They asked me for £500 deposit, I went to walk out and he price dropped to £250 rather sharpish. Fair play to the salesman tho as I only popped in for a look!

I just told the I'm giving £200 as it's a five month wait, no issues. I did buy a car from them before thou.

I only put down £250 for a vrs estate O3, he did say I could have left less?

Only ever paid a small nominal sum when putting down a deposit - think a couple of hundred NEVER £500 or thereabouts.

Had a nice long test drive of the TDI DSG today, and it was good enough for me to decide to go with it instead of the Petrol.

It was a tough decision, but for me, as i will use the car for business trips, I don't think id be able to cope plodding on the motorway in the Petrol at 55mph to get an OK mpg return :)

The TDI itself, felt pretty good! power delivery was pretty decent, the engine is frugal but not the same as the petrol which had almost instant reaction when you put the foot down.

the diesel and DSG does work pretty well though, i did try floor it a couple of times and it does run out of puff as it approaches 5k rpm for around 1/4 second before it decides to change up (using sport mode), where as the petrol feels pretty much constant without any noticeable power drop changing up.

Engine sound is quite minimal and id say it was a bit quieter than my Mk2 Leon FR CR i had couple years ago which is a good thing.

With the engine STOP/START there is a bit of shudder when the engine starts back up but thats what i was expecting with such a heavy lump.

Anyway, I'm happy with my decision and it meant i could get the heated windscreen option :D

spec ordered:

vRS Estate TDI DSG - Candy White

-Anthracite wheels

-Black pack

-Canton sound

-Cruise control

-Columbus Sat nav with Colour maxidot

-Winter pack (Heated seats, washer and screen)

-Park assist

-Light assist with high beam control

-Kessy

-Sunset glass

-Spare wheel

Getting the diesel and the winter pack ended up adding around £9 to my monthly payment, not what i was expecting which was a smaller monthly with a larger final payment as i thought the residuals of the diesel were higher? perhaps i was mistaken.

Time to wait patiently and hope delivery time isn't too annoying...

Sounds right to me - worth more at the end of the deal (PCP I assume), so balloon payment will be higher as with PCP, you're effectively paying the depreciation and not the cost of the car.  Residual %age might be higher, but so is the purchase price..

Tough decision if you are boarder line.

Hope it's the right one for you.

Enjoy whatever.

Just a small update.

Changed it to the TSI, the thought of the smiles it will produce outweigh the higher mpgs.

Should we stay tuned for the latest update... What could it be tomorrow? :giggle:

Good Man!

Are you undecided or are you just not sure!

ha ha

What was the difference between the 2 ball on (gfv) payments? If you dont mind me asking. I'm currently debating the whole petrol vs derv thing for my vrs order

Balloon payment came out identical for both variants, 9585 optional final with 12k miles year on 42 month PCP, all that changed for me was the monthly payments which was around £4 less a month for the petrol,

I cant aee how that can be right as every finance illustration ive had the diesel GFV is still quite a bit more than the TSi's after 42 months and was going to cost a reasonable amount less a month to buy.

Youve chosen alot of options though and they dont contribute to an increased GFV, the full cost for all the options is spread out over the term.

Fair shout, if you find theyve made a mistake in their calcs at any point make sure you hold them to what theyve quoted

Finance for the tsi Hatch is certainly more than the diesel, wonder if the estate in tsi form has a better predicted residual? Wonder what difference the dsg box makes?!
